Waking up this morning, and as a social media freak that uses a whole lot social media networking platforms. I happen to hear about Steemit by my secretary @rosebarbieumoh at my workplace as earlier stated in my introductory post. I decided to make research on it so as to know more about the platform. After all the collective information I got from both friends and the internet I decided to draw a little comparison between this two lovely platforms.
Why most people use Facebook:
• Because Facebook works as an RSS reader for news.
• Because it’s required to log in to other websites.
• Because you can use it to build a professional profile.
• Because you can use it to share photos easily.
• Because Facebook offers free video messaging.
• Because it’s an easy way of organizing events.
• Because Facebook groups are better than bulletin boards.
• Because it’s the easiest method for remembering birthdays.
• Because it offers a simple way of spreading awful opinions.
So, what have we learned? people are still using Facebook despite the stunts the company continues to pull. Why? Because nothing else works quite as well as Facebook does( so the made us believe) . A new rival (Steemit) has emerged in time, and refuse to be acquired by Facebook. If enough people start using Steemit instead of Facebook then a tipping point will eventually occur. At the moment a large number of Facebook users are seeing more reason to leave what they think it’s less profitable to that which they could learn and earn as well. At that currently, there is a huge fictional moment from Facebook to Steemit, Facebook is fast becoming obsolete in the social networking and Steemit is fast taking the pace. And that’s a fate we wouldn’t wish on anyone.
However in Steemit, community-moderated discussion is very popular and with some strategizing and advertising income from a personal blog can quickly help to supplement your income hence reason for the huge number of people joining the platform.
Most importantly, people think Facebook is a total waste of time and resource because there is no income from publications, I mean what’s the value of making a post and having so much likes and comment with no financial benefit attached to it but on Steemit I could get value for creative and educative publications as this one is through “upvotes”. isn't that worthwhile...
