Serious question, what crypto/blockchain networks are having more active meetups than Steem? Bitcoin is very likely (I follow on meetup.com and they are still clearly bigger), as is Ethereum. Any others?
I agree and even considering further that there are so many meetups not included here, this is just a small snapshot. The Indonesian guys for example meet regularly to develop the community post and chat in cafes.
I don't just mean to toot the Steem horn. Genuinely interested in the level of 'real world' social activity among the other competing networks (if anyone reading can show it).
I'm a huge interacter in social media for 6 years now. I spout my message everywhere. Steemit is huge compared to anywhere else I've been. The internet world is mostly a cold, dead place where I get few replies. Here I get enormous amounts of interaction.
Aside from the high level of internal interaction here (as seen in the Alexa/moz rankings) the real world interaction is astonishing. I've never seen meetups catch fire like this before. I've never seen people out on the streets promoting. I've never seen this level of friendship.
I just met @world-travel-pro in Bangkok last night for a couple of hours. He was here for a few weeks and we met up twice for dinner and talked steemit and other topics. Dan is from the us, lives in Ecuador and is now in Laos after touring Thailand. He's only the second person I have met in person from social media in all these years. He took the time to get to me since I'm not that mobile.
I'm at this post to upvote, resteem and promote on Twitter for a few days. These meetups are highly unique and exciting and get attention from my Twitter following (5500 non-steemers). I currently tweet out some of the meetups as they occur. I think this round up post will definitely call attention.
My Twitter has gone from 20 notifications in a day to close to 100 in the 4 weeks I decided to focus some time tweeting. I have over 100 steeming tweeps on a twitlist (so fast!) and they engage! If you are on twitter - come on down!

Would be great if Steemit one day is big enough to get Australian meetups going! I mean, there are a few Aussies I have seen on here but it would be something I would consider going to.

Steemit is taking on the world like a storm!
I know you have people there since I'm interested in your island country and I've seen their posts - just search for your country and city hashtag on steemit and you will find them - all you need is a restaurant or someone's home.
As far as I could find there is 5 Mauritian Steemians :(
Together we had decided to create the #mauritius so that when others post, we will find them but till now hasn't seen more newcomers...
When we will be having atleast 10 Steemians here then I will plan a meetup. The more the merrier :)
6 is great for a start! congrats. Greece and Germany are good examples. They dress up in steemit shirts and run around town looking happy while getting people to sign up!
