RE: The Minnow Power-up League Week #10

in #community6 years ago

What a pitty! I tried to play the game and after several long waits, I keep getting the message that there are no suitable enemies to practice with. When I tried clicking on the play for leaderboard status, I got a message that I MUST buy a starter pack before I can play. So my cards are kind of useless without that starter pack by the look of it. With the price of Steem so low, I would need to give up more than 20 Steem to start playing. That's more than a month of collecting Steem for me, so it isn't going to happen until the value of Steem goes up enough that I can buy the cards with Steem and not break my bank. It would be nice to get to try the game before putting money into it. If the practice arena would work for me, that would be great. Also, I tried to look at the quest area. The 1st quest needed a water splinter summoner (mine is life), so no go there. I clicked on "start new quest" and was shown another quest that needed earth (I think). Then the "start new quest" link was gone, so no more options to find a quest using the life summoner. If people have to put $40 or more into the game just to be able to play, they may be better off buying a console game for that money (or less if they buy used).

Contact me on discord, I have a code for a starter pack that was in the goodie bag at SteemFest.

Oh, really, so it's not about how many cards you own it's "did you buy a starter pack"? That sucks, I thought having won a couple of booster packs I could play, too.

That was my original impression as well, however, you need the starter pack because the booster packs don't give you enough cards to form a decent team in most cases. Teams need to be made up of just 1 splinter type but MAY include cards of no splinter.

The other BIG mistake I made was to click on the link to see more quests. There was a pop-up message saying that I would lose any progress I made, but since I hadn't yet begun, there was nothing to lose... or so I thought! The quest was to use a specified splinter and win 10 battles. I didn't have many cards of that splinter, so I figured I would see what OTHER quests I could do. ONE other quest with another specified splinter was available, but NO MORE LINK, so no more quest options and you CAN'T go BACK to the first option! Lesson learned: DO NOT click that link until you have COMPLETED the quest. It happens automatically when you battle using that splinter, so other than choosing a team of the specified splinter, IGNORE the quest area except to look at the DETAILS link.
