Happy Birthday to ME !!
It's official, I'm a senior citizen ! How'd that happen so fast !
One day you are 5 years old, a couple days later you're 65 ! Believe me when I tell you it goes about that fast.
Earlier this week I received these three birthday cards from my sister Vicky.
She likes to really celebrate those folks she loves and she REALLY knows how to do it. These cards were nice just as they came, but she made them more special with extra stickers and sayings.
Even the stamps were festive !
I'm getting ready to go to my Mom's for the afternoon. It is not a formal party, covid and all considered, but my two sisters and my brother will drop by for a little visit at some point while I am there.
Every year on our birthdays, my Mom asks us what we want for our birthday cake. It doesn't have to be cake at all, just whatever dessert you happen to want at the time.
This year I wanted some of her chocolate pie and after a phone call with her just now, I understand they are done, ready and waiting for me. I am not normally a "chocolate first choice" kind of girl, but her chocolate pies are a notch or two up from average. Yum Yum.....
I thought the groundhog card showing the donut sugar on it's mouth, dripping mug of coffee or hot cocoa, housecoat and curlers was the funniest thing ! I told my sister this is how I pictured my retirement being (not that I am doing that yet)... except for the curlers, because we all know it is way to much trouble for that ! LOL

Becoming a senior citizen has been delayed in the UK. You now have to be 66 to get a free bus pass and your State pension so this side of The Pond you're still part of the young set. 😂

Oh... for benefits it is delayed here too. What I should have been able to receive now, I have to work for another year and 6 months to get ! I can get some now, but not as much and if you start early, it does not go up later. Not right how our government toyed with the funds, but what can you do ?? I'm sure they hope half of us die before we can collect our money ! LOL... birthday downer....at least for now I am working from home, so if I have to work more, it's as good as it can be, so I'm still thankful.
But for real... it's been a great day. Have a piece of pie !

One of my nieces gave me a bag of assorted items, my favorite coffee, a large bottle of pure vanilla, a mug, cara cara oranges and some delightful artsy spoons. What a sweet way to be celebrated.

I had a nice visit with my Mom and Siblings. It's been a good day.
They put this wild candle thing on my birthday pie. It was closed up like a fat flower bud. When it was lit the entire top of it was consumed in flames and then it slowly opened up, started slowly turning and played a music box version of the Happy Birthday Song. It was quite a show !

Happy Birthday. Jacey!!! I almost missed it! I was off to the shore and not paying attention to the computer. I didn't bring it! Needed to winterize the house as we are expecting cold weather! Really cold weather. Okay, I didn't actually do it, my neighbors came when they saw me and he did it for me, so that was nice.

These two spoons in that photo of things my niece gave me are the neatest things. They are meant to really be used and not just works of art. You just have to remember not to put them in the dishwasher. Aren't they grand??

I ate the last piece of what I brought home yesterday. Nearly a whole week of PIE ! ha ha... 65! You know, I know it is true, but it is like I myself cannot even fathom it. I have never been one that minded my age or anyone knowing what that was. Honestly, it has never felt real to me. Time has passed so fast and on the inside, I'm just the same as ever. Sure I have lots more experiences as the years have gone by and hopefully I'm a little smarter than I use to be, but on the inside?... still the same !
I think there might have been an alien coming out of one of the flowers in my birthday bouquet. 👽 😄
I can imagine. At 35 it is odd to me that so many years have fluttered by. That flower looks like someone stuck it on the bouquet backwards - sepals sticking outward like birthday cards on packages. Quite an alien.
I had wondered if it was supposed to be like that, the flower that is, because it DID have a stem coming out of the other side, or if it was some sort of hybrid anomaly.
I'll probably never know. :)

I was around a few family. We are still keeping our gatherings small, but one of my sisters and her husband have covid, well, he is nearly over it and she has no fever or aches left, but still the cough.... that horrid cough !
I can't believe I made it to 65. I thought I'd croak before now.
My brother gave me a shimmer tree. It is just on the ottoman in the living room here, but I love things like this.

Be sure to get all of your favourite recipes from your mom while you can. I see too many people writing about their regrets of missing out on this little step of obtaining these little life secrets and treasures from their parents and then one day it was too late. Big loves 💕

I do have the pie recipe, but somehow it just seems better when Mom makes it. I ate the last piece today ! It is truly a good idea to get your favorite recipes from your Mom, Grandmothers, Aunts and the such (or the men in your family if THEY are the good cooks). My Dad was a good cook too. I have heard SO many stories about people wishing they had recipes for different things after the person that made them was gone. I guess you never want to think about the day they are not here, but they usually love sharing the recipes, so get them while you can for sure.

haha... nothing wrong with long celebrations of special moments. I got my Mom to write down memories from her childhood ... she never completed the journal she was doing for me but I have a few memories there that she managed to get down, which I find special. It was my pleasure stopping by to wish you 😊😊😊
