It's the last day of March! I can hardly believe it. It seems like Christmas was just a month ago to me.
Yesterday I went to Mom's and as I told, my Sister and Brother were there. One of my sisters was unable to come at the last minute, so there were just five of us, Mom, my brother the birthday boy & his wife, me and my older sister. Mom made most of the lunch, a BBQ chicken dish again with mashed potatoes, stringy slaw and heat-n-serve rolls, the same menu I had for my birthday in January. I also made some deviled eggs. Yum! It all tasted like childhood and we had a great visit.
My Mom waited till the last minute to announce she was having birthday lunch on Sunday. I wasn't prepared ! She didn't ask me for much, but that's not happening.....LOL... she wanted me to bring my mandolin out to shred the slaw and I did. Although we don't formally give big gifts, we sometimes do token things or a random nicer thing by surprise, just whatever you feel like. I had a new alexa plug here and over the years I had given my brother an echo, a dot and a plug. Now he was getting another. ANYWAY..... That wasn't all I wanted to do, so even though I had my normal Walmart grocery order Saturday morning, I jumped right on the computer, ordered berries and watermelon and chips and onion dip for appetizers. Something bad and something fairly healthy. I wanted it to feel like a party! I also got several containers of nuts, black walnuts, marcona almonds and macademia nuts, but they weren't to serve, they were to go with the plug as part of my gift to my brother.
Anyway, I thought the berries looked so pretty in some of my Mom's colorful dishes, So I took photos. LOL
The raspberries in the blue plate were so pretty. The blue of the plate was a little deeper than the photo shows. It was almost like some sort of art.
Here's a photo of my half eaten lunch. There was something mesmerising about the sesame seeds floating in the BBQ sauce river, so I took a photo of that too. 😄
Mom's camellia bush was on fire with blooms. Absolutely full !
.....and one lone purple tulip. It popped so happily there all by itself.
Surprisingly, when my little order came Sunday morning with berries and nuts and the such, it had a suprise with it. There was a small tote bag that had a few free samples in it. Nothing major, but still, free is free.... right ? For some reason "Liquid Morning" sounded like the name of something a Snake Oil salesman would be hawking, but one morning, I will probably try it. I'm not sure why, I mean, no matter if it tastes good or not, how can you tell a vitamin supplement is any good in a dose or two??
On the back of the paper that was in the clear bag with it, there is this code you can use to get a discount for more. If you actually wanted more, that may or may not be a deal. I don't scan those things though. You never know what all you will get when you do that.
I know, I sound old, but.... I am ! LOL
Then there was this thing, Liquid I.V..... 3 times the electrolytes of popular sports drinks, all in that thin little pouch.
....and even more hydrating powder!... that doesn't sound right, does it?? I always associated the brand Pedialyte to baby stuff.
There was also a sample of some tide Oxi pods. I will definitely use those.
.... and some advertisements. File your taxes and some game thing.....
The only other time I ever got samples was nearly the first time I got an order delivered and that was at least 2 years ago, maybe more. The thing I really liked most about it though, was this colorful summer time tote it all came in. It's a happy thing! It's pretty sturdy and I know I will use it a lot this summer. It is actually pretty enough that it could be used for a gift bag, but I'm not going to do that, I'm keeping this one for myself! It does have blue handles but they were flopped over inside the bag.
Exciting huh? I know, I know, don't be jealous!

That's about all for now. We've gotten through Monday at least on this new week and tomorrow is April Fool's Day. I hope ya'll don't get pranked too bad. I'm going to be watching. What would be bad is if something weird or bad happened and someone was trying to tell you and you just laughed in their face... well... because it was April Fool's day..... and then, it wasn't a prank. Typing that made me laugh.

Me too! Who knows, you might get a sample of something you actually end up liking.
The berries turned out really nice. They looked good and tasted good, not something you can be sure of this early in spring. I'll be having some of the leftover berries this morning along with my yogurt. Yum!
Yes, beware today. There is even more change than normal for things to not be as they are presented.
