Steem Basic Income

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

We last published this graph that 'maps' the interrelationships in our member pool ten days ago. Here is our graph and analysis from last time we published it:

It only shows people that regularly upvote each other or @steembasicincome, or have high subscription levels for regular upvotes that are too big for our smaller voting accounts to deliver. That makes sense, because we have over 5800 active members that are voted by ten different accounts. All of those interrelationships would be too much for this chart.

I always enjoy comparing the previous graph to the new graph. I like to see what fresh faces appear, along with take note of who disappeared.

Member spotlight: @marfonso

One member in the center of our graph, yet not previously spotlighted, is @marfonso. He is a very active member of the SteemitPortugal community, so if you can read Portuguese, definitely check him out! His enhanced graph shows a lot of other Portuguese players, along with a few more promotion services. It's good to see non-English content creators finding a way to make Steem work for them!

Enrollment

If you want to get involved, or to increase the level of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 unit in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian (except for yourself), it does not have to be a current member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. If we choose to accept SBD without refunding it, you do not receive extra value for it.

Enrollments are processed automatically every 144 minutes. Confirmation transactions are still manual and typically are sent within 2-3 days. Even if you have not received a welcome transaction, you can check your status using !sbi status in any post or comment.

I have set auto vote to all official accounts actually. Not with 100% on all though.
I see that I upvote atleast two posts or comments per day with 100% .

Hey SBI ;)

I looked at sbi on steemd and wondered whether there is any plan for letting the voting power recharge or how that works. It seems it's very drained and could be a lot more effective with a few days break or something?
How do you manage the voting power with all the votes going out in general, I'm curious.

That's a good question, thanks for asking! Based on our total effective SP in the account, there is a maximum weekly value that SBI can deliver through its upvotes. (About $500 per week right now).
When we over-deliver (upvotes with more total value than that are delivered) it draws down our VP. When we under-deliver, it allows our VP to recharge. This is some variability in when people post, what their pending balances are, etc. so we actively monitor VP on a daily basis. When the average VP is below 20% (which it has been for a couple of weeks) we check it multiple times per day to determine whether more immediate measures should be taken.

We have a substantial amount of delegation orders pending on the MB market. When those fill, it gives the account receiving it a temporary VP boost (usually drawn down quickly to bring it in line with the average), but more importantly it raises the total weekly deliverable value. When enough of those orders fill, our VP recovery will accelerate.

I realize that VP seems a little drastic at the moment, but we are actually up quite a bit over the last week as delegation orders have started to fill.

Since low VP only affects vote delivery for a very short list of members (people who have a scheduled vote value greater than a 100% vote from all ten accounts), there are very practical reasons not to worry too much about it as long as it's not dropping too quickly (or approaching too close to 0).
