Let's do this together

As you discover what strength you can draw from your community in this world from which it stands apart, look outwards as well as inwards, build bridges instead of walls.
Chief Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

In recent times, it is common to find individuals being obsessed with or celebrating the concept of being “selfmade”, they celebrate the fact that they have achieved success by themselves without anybody’s help but if you look deeply, you’ll realize that the ones that have achieved great success are products of amazing communities. They have been able to surround themselves with people and communities that helped them through the way.

Communities are fast rising and everywhere around us and they exists as a result of commonness. The word “community” is derived from the French word communitas which translates “public spirit” or “shared in common”
We are social beings that crave interactions from time to time and these interactions leads us to connecting with like minds and before you know it, there is a community, more people begin to identify, and then there goes responsibility, conflicts, successes and the likes.

There are basically two ways to succeed in life: by yourself (which is faster) or with people (which is slower but more balanced) and whichever way you choose, the end result is still success.

Community is a very practical phenomenon which most of us consciously or unconsciously have started playing a part in.

community plus

When you belong to community, here are a couple of things you stand to gain.

  • You have a place you belong

Many people drown in loneliness, and no matter how much they try to hide it or make it look like they are happy, deep down they just wish they had people to interact with. Community gives us a sense of belonging and connects us with like minds, mentors, mentees etc

  • You enlarge your network.

your network determines your networth.

The quality of people you surround yourself with improves the quality of the outcome of your life. A community may not meet all your needs, but it would definitely connect you with the right network you need.

  • You incredible your knowledge base.

No one definitely knows it all, a community connects you with people you can share ideas with and learn from. I mean how would i have learnt about airdrops or crypto currency but for the community i associated my self with

  • community support is unbeatable.

As time goes on especially on steemit, you'll need your community to support you one way or the other....
I've observed that whenever people enter contest that requires upvotes to win, those in communities takes it all.

Despite all of these benefits, people find it difficult to get into a community or even get along when they are in. You may have noticed cliques or existing cabals and no one pays attention to you, sometimes it could be heartbreaking and looks like the community members are selfish, care more about themselves and are not open to new members...

Here is how to breakthrough

  • Introduce yourself

It is simple courtesy to introduce yourself when you get into a new place, that way you'll be treated with warmth, shown your way around, given the rules and regulations and find one or two friends.

  • Look out for existing cabals

Of a truth, in every community, there exists cliques and cabals and this is basically as a result of existing relationships. Be observant so you'll know who is in charge, who is in charge of what so you don't disrupt already laid down systems.

  • Don't take things personal

If you are the kind of person that gets angry at every slight opportunity, you won't survive in a community. People see things differently and react different and as such it is common to find people with different opinions. There are cases whereby little disagreements escalates quickly. My advice is that you have an open mind in a community and don't take things personal.

  • Have a mindset of contributing to the growth of the community.

It is unhealthy to join a community because you want to be on the receiving end, for some communities especially those that have grown you might get that, how about those that are new and still trying to build, they mind not meet all your needs, so whenever you join a community, look out for where you can contribute to the growth.

the community you build today would be strong for you tomorrow
