For a while now, I have been trying to talk him into joining steemit, but he as been giving excuses why he cannot join. First of all he said the he cannot join steemit because the cost of browsing is very high. I actually told him that to be successful on steemit, he has to stay for the community and this is why he complained about the cost of browsing been very high because he will have to spend a lot of time browsing.
Actually the cost of browsing is very high and this is what has millitated against many people in Africa joining steemit because they do not have the money to always buy data because of the high cost. But the fact is that my friend just used this excuse to cover up other excuse for not joining steemit.
At another the excuse he give was that steemit was a ponzi scheme so he does not want to get duped. It baffled me why he thought that steemit was a ponzi scheme even after I told him that steemit is not a get rich quick. Ponzi scheme are get rich quick scheme, but steemit is not a get rich quick scheme and am sure we all here know it
Well this aside, another reason he gave for not joining steemit was that he won't have time for it. Well this is true you need enough time on steemit to enjoy it, but I knew that all these excuses he was giving for not joining steemit was simply because he did not believe in it.....
Recently I just got a new smartphone with mostly steem 💰 money. It was even me and him that went to buy the phone on that day, but I didn't tell him that the money I was using to buy the phone was steem money.

So like I was saying, I did not tell him that I used steem money to buy Phone, i don't know why, but maybe because I felt that phone was something small. But in a little while from now when he sees me driving a Lamborghini and he ask me hah!! Yaaniv where did you get the money to buy this car, I will just say to him steemit.
Hahahahahahaaha. That will be a good answer for steemit skeptics. Yeesss!!!

It's not easy convincing people. Luckily my siblings trust me when I tell them stuff but most other people are not as easy to convince.

All we can do is to take the horse to the river, we cannot force it to drink the water.
I have a couple of them I have tried to introduce steemit to. The excuses are mostly the same - 'I can't write', 'internet is full of Ponzi scheme and scams', 'I don't have much time'(they are always on facebook and others).
The best thing to do for these people is to succeed and show them your results. Any doubting Thomas or lazy people that still refuses to join after seeing your success is beyond redemption.
You have said it all already @golddeejay, all we cannot force anybody to join if they don't want to join.
I think Steemit will gain much more attention once there is a useable app. I havent been able to find one.

hahaha, yeah a lamborghini will really explain a lot. But you can still tell him where the most of the money comes from. This might make him believe and if not. Then good luck to him when he sees you with something bigger and better.

I'm dealing with the same thing.
I tried to introduce family and I had no luck so far. Maybe they will join when I start purchasing things with my steemit money.
Time will tell, I guess.

All we can do is to promote steem, it is now left for them to decide to get up or not.
