The Botanical Garden of Bogotá "José Celestino Mutis" is the largest botanical garden in Colombia. It is found in the savannah of Bogotá, in the tropical strip, enjoying almost 12 hours of sunlight per day. It is a place of research, education and leisure of the Colombian capital.
The institution has programs of biotechnology, conservation of threatened plants and ecology, conservation of ecosystems, ethnobotany, exploration, floristics, horticulture, biology and control of invasive species, ecological restoration, conservation of seeds and spores, systematic studies and taxonomy, sustainability programs, programs dedicated to agricultural improvement, restoration of degraded lands and the urban environment.
