Abi and I are in Dallas for a wedding this week.
This is our first time in Texas, and the furthest west I have been in the U.S.
You know how they say everything is bigger in Texas? Well, we are finding that to be true.
Does your mall have an ice rink? The Galleria Dallas is a 4 story mall with an ice rink for the community. While we were there, kids ranging from 5-15 were having their lessons while the parents looked on from the restaurants.
Abi and I enjoyed some Five Guys burgers while watching the kiddos twirl and channel Disney’s Frozen.
Of course, we cannot forget the 12,000 member church where the ceremony will be held.
First Baptist Dallas is a newly renovated $130 million campus located in the heart of downtown Dallas.
It is a truly gorgeous piece of architecture, and of course the hospitality is top class.
What city in your home country are you planning on visiting in the near future?

last winter I was taking the grandkids skating on an outdoor rink near our house - it got pretty cold some days, although it wound around like a trail - it was more of a frozen path meandering through the park, Pretty at night with lights, but an indoor heated mall would be nice too :)
A frozen path meandering through the park - that sounds like an enchanted place. :)
it is, but there's something to be said for a reprieve from windchill :)
I love the ice rink with the pumpkins on it.....so pretty. I'm definitely not living large....I don't think I'd enjoy being in a church gathering with 12,000 people!!! I am simple, and enjoy smaller gatherings personally.....
The architecture is amazing to look at - all mirrored and what not, very Toronto actually. We don't go into Toronto for the largesse reasons ;) The Eaton Center in Toronto is humungous like the Galleria - I forget how many floors and is beautiful to look at but just not my thing.
I went to Burlington today - does that count? It's a city. Near me. I think I'll probably drive to either St. Jacob's or Paris Ontario this coming week. The drive will be beautiful and the weather is cooler so there'll be some outdoor shopping and probably coffee and pie outside. (You can tell from the names of the cities that they are more than likely small towns....yup. We even have Scotland near us and Boston, Ontario )
Hope you have a nice visit and fun at the wedding.
We loved seeing the fall pumpkins as well.... Abi would prefer your tastes. I grew up in a church of 1700 so that many friends probably would not bother me.
I have heard of the glass architecture of your fair city. There is something regal about glass buildings.
Paris, Scotland, and Boston Ontario, you can certainly get around. Fall shopping is pleasant. Maybe the anticipation of the holidays? Enjoy!
The Toronto skyline is pretty at night and maybe during the sunrise or sunset when the glass buildings reflect the light but....again....claustrophobia!!! lol.
John finds being surrounded by mountains claustrophic but not tall buildings. Go figure!! I'm a little bit country , he's definitely a city guy who likes to be close to allconveniences - you never know when you'll need something 'stat'. !!
I'll have to do a photo blog on the small towns around here.
We've attended large churches too. And yes, you can hide in those congregations and have more people to choose from for friends. But there is something about home churches or home gatherings....they are called by different names.
Five Guys burgers! Yes!
The burgers are good, but the fries are the best... ;)
😄😇😄
Haha, yes!
I almost ate the entire bag of fries myself. ;)
Yeah, I love the way they fill the cup and then overflow into the bag!
I have occasionally made an entire meal of their fries... ;)
Haha, I don’t blame you. 🍽🥜🍔🥖
That ice rink is pretty sweet! And right in the middle of the mall- must be nice in the summer. I lived in Austin for three years and remember the heat!
It was a pleasant scene around the ice rink, and quite cool. :)
$130 million church?! That sounds extravagant!
I'll be headin' out to Columbus Ohio next week to watch the Buckeyes take on Penn State
It is a large complex!
Now that is a road trip! I grew up in PA so we are looking forward to next week’s rivalry game.
Great shot's enjoy your time :)
We are! Thank you. :)
You mean 12000 member church, what a gathering of God's children. Love the church building.
It truly is. The glass architecture is lovely.
I lived in the Dallas metroplex for a number of years and loved living there!
We are enjoying our stay here as well!
I prefer Austin and San Antonio, but Dallas is pretty cool.
What do you enjoy about Austin and San Antonio?
Sorry about the late reply. I am sorry to be vague, but it is just the feel of the cities.
wow what a beautiful mall, makes me wanna go there , shop and Tango
Haha, lots of shopping and wallet dancing to do here.
absolutely....a lovely place indeed
great city to live in
