My wife's best friend is one of a kind. She lives if Florida now and we do not get to see her as often as we would like. Have known her for 40 some years now and she never ceases to amaze me. She is funny, compassionate, sincere, faithful, humble and did I say funny. Her compassion for others goes beyond anything I could ever imagine. This reality was made even more apparent when she visited us this past week.
As we spent one evening by the fire reminiscing and catching up on our endevours of late, she stated, Oh ya, I didn't tell you guys but I just got back from Uganda. She had gone there with her church group to construct two single room homes. While she was there she was also involved with doing eye exams on children and distributing free glasses the church had brought with them. The pictures she had taken of the community she was working in literally made me quiver with goose bumps. Once again I was reminded of how fortunate I really am!
After shaking off my astonishment from this news, she also told us very nonchantaly that she was going to Guatemala in October with the church. This time she would also be providing for the less fortunate, assissting a group of doctors and nurses, they would be meeting there. I feel closer to God just by knowing her! There is so much hatered in this world that we are made aware of every day! Goodness seems to walk a quieter path!
God Bless! thebigsweed
