OK so after doing my first race and getting 1st place, I decided to do another one.

I was very excited for this one. It was a much bigger competition so I was quite nervous. Our friends on Corfu, Lukas and Anilou, decided to join the race too, so we trained together sometimes and i also trained alone. Here i was running around on rocks, working on my endurance! lol and having fun jumping around.

We had 16 days to get ready. We started training for the race. We were doing 1000 m, so we measured ourselves at 1000 m and we regularly ran the course. My fastest time was five minutes and seven seconds.

The days drew nearer. We were quite nervous on the day of the race. We arrived there and there was so many kids. I said ‘I think I’ll get top three’ to Lukas as we lined up, The starter called ‘3-2-1 GO!’ All the kids started running. The pack was tight and it was tricky to not trip over each other.

I thought ‘why are they running so fast? Don’t they know it’s like 1000 m?’ I followed closely behind in the second pack. I had lost sight of Lukas and Anilou. There was a pack in front of me of kids about my age, but they were going really fast so I assumed they would slow down soon, but they kept running crazy fast. I soon caught up to them. I was already really tired. There was this one kid in front of me that whole time. Everyone else had dropped behind. It was just me and this kid though he was still like 10 m in front of me. I was like ‘How is this kid running so fast?’. But I kept closely behind. Once we neared the end, I started trying to catch up, but it was no use. He was so fast.

I came through the finish line just a few seconds after him. I was so tired at the end. The kid who won really pushed me to go faster than i would have wanted. You get that sick feeling after running so hard… I didn’t get sick but i felt it.

We were sitting there for about 15 seconds before all the other kids started coming. Everyone did so good and they came in one after the next tired like me.

Anilou came in 7th place. She really did great.

And Lukas came in 14th place. He got a stomach cramp so lost a few places right at the end.

We were all really tired. They said they would present the trophies in two hours. That seemed like a long time for me, but it passed quick.

They had a huge buffet of free food for all the runners. We had pasta, souvlaki chicken, chips.

After this we went for a walk along the beach with our friends. It was our last day together,

as we left Corfu only a few days after the race. When we got back we waited for the ceremony. Eventually, they called us up for the podium. I got up onto the second place stand. I was very excited.

They gave me my trophy, and I learned that I ran the race in 4 minutes and 21 seconds. I later found out that the kid that beat me was only 9 years old, but he trains a lot and goes all around Corfu and Greece doing races. I felt very pleased with my performance, and I hope I can keep on getting better!

Have you ever been in a Race? let me know 🏃‍♂️

Well bye for now Hive. We are moving away from Corfu and will share more adventures soon!
