Fastest Desktop Processor is from AMD!

in #computer7 years ago

For nearly a decade the desktop processor market was firmly in the hands of Intel. AMD just didn't deliver the punch and even low prices could not prevent that gamers made a wide circle around AMD.

But that changed when AMD launched the Ryzen series, which processors up to 8 cores, nearly on par or better in games, depending on core usage.

Now AMD put a second blow to the chin of Intel.

The nicely named new max. 16 core "Threadripper" is as expensive as Intel's latest CPU, but that one has only 10 cores. While Intel has higher GHz, AMD has more raw power.

The result is basically what you expect: The 10 core Intel and the 12 core AMD are on the same level on average while the 16 core clearly beats Intel in all parallelised work.

To increase gaming power the Threadripper allows (through Ryzen Master tool) 2 modes that streamline the core usage

The negative side is that (until now) there is virtually no cooler ready for Threadripper. But this is sure to change.

dl;dr: If you need a lot of parallel power or have lots of parrallel work, get the Threadripper when its there!

Amd is my first computer, a gift from my parents when i was in college. Its performance is remarkable, its flagship is graphic yanv known tough sabgat to do heavy work. One drawback is in the temperature, we must admit the temperature of the processor is very hot bia dibandigkan with intel, power consumption is also quite heavy. However, this is indeed in accordance with the performance of his work. Amd is very tough in the field of games and crystal clear image processing. I am a computer laptop technician, I must admit nvidia chipset is still less than amd and ati. Problems that I often encounter are usually nvidia, amd and ati rare, let alone intel graphics.

Why the Gridcoin tag?

Because I know at least one steemit Gridcoin guy was waiting for them.

The CPUs surely will be the best what you can get for a single comp for BOINC!

Then it's wise to write something like: "This powerful new 16-core Threadripper monster will be an excellent CPU for multithreaded BOINC applications like yafu, minting you plenty of Gridcoins in turn. For more info, check the posts of this other Gridcoin guy here".

nice post........ i am planing to buy laptop

That's nice but not the machine for a 180W 16core ;9

But Ryzen Mobile should come out in the nearer future, too.
