I am with you on considering the logic of beliefs and the outcome of living them as being more important then the lives of who those beliefs have been attributed to. I do not consider authority, tradition, popularity or their opposites to be reliable indications of the truthfulness or usefulness of any idea.
But, I also agree with other commentors here that they should open source all of their information if it is in fact valuable and they truly want the world to be changed because of it. Keeping their truth proprietary inhibits growth and innovation the same as in software code and patents. Instead of using concealment and initiation to control knowledge/power, they ought to recognize that only those who are ready will be curious enough to go looking and capable of understanding.
