Conspiracy Theories - Are Any of Them Actually True?

in #conspiracy8 years ago (edited)

Believe it or not, yes! Many have been shown to be true.

All seeing eye on dollar

Do you think that things are going on that you aren't aware of? Things that might be affecting how you live or your personal freedoms? Have you heard terms or phrases like "the New World Order" and wonder if there is something more to it than just being a buzzword?

You're not alone! The Washington Post reported that about half of Americans believe in at least some conspiracy theories.

Theories that proved to be true

The CIA Experiments and MK-Ultra

Experiments on humans were intended to identify and develop drugs and procedures to be used in interrogations and torture, in order to weaken the individual to force confessions through mind control.

The program engaged in many illegal activities, including the use of unwitting U.S. and Canadian citizens as its test subjects, which led to controversy regarding its legitimacy. MKUltra used numerous methodologies to manipulate people's mental states and alter brain functions, including the surreptitious administration of drugs (especially LSD) and other chemicals, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, isolation, verbal and sexual abuse, as well as various forms of torture.

Beginning in 1945 when the US government decided it would be a good idea to hire Nazi scientists (Operation Paperclip) the MK-Ultra operation ran for thirty years before documents started to be uncovered. For thirty years this was all just a conspiracy theory, until the truth came out!

COINTELPRO - Or How The FBI Was Told to Stop Martin Luther King

FBI records show that COINTELPRO resources targeted groups and individuals that the FBI deemed subversive, including anti-Vietnam War organizers, activists of the Civil Rights Movement or Black Power movement (e.g., Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Black Panther Party), feminist organizations, anti-colonial movements (such as Puerto Rican independence groups like the Young Lords), and a variety of organizations that were part of the broader New Left.

A shocking revelation of how much effort and funding the US government can put in to trying to stop people they deem as political threats. Even including one of the most influential figures in history - MLK. Watch The FBI's War On Black America for more information about what happened.

The CIA, Crack and Contras

For the better part of a decade, a San Francisco Bay Area drug ring sold tons of cocaine to the Crips and Bloods street gangs of Los Angeles and funneled millions in drug profits to a Latin American guerrilla army run by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, a Mercury News investigation has found.

This drug network opened the first pipeline between Colombia's cocaine cartels and the black neighborhoods of Los Angeles, a city now known as the "crack" capital of the world. The cocaine that flooded in helped spark a crack explosion in urban America . . . and provided the cash and connections needed for L.A.'s gangs to buy automatic weapons.

Gary Webb, a journalist from Indiana has a fascinating interview from 1996 on C-Span about his investigations. And do you know how Gary died? It was suicide... Multiple gunshot suicide...

But There's More!

These are just the tip of the iceberg, as there are many many more examples including:

What Else Will be Uncovered and What Will be Debunked?

What conspiracy theories do you think are true but have yet to be uncovered? Are we secretly being controlled by some supreme power? Or are these theories that have gone too far and are waiting to be debunked?

You missed a recent one. The secret cia prisons.

At first they were like. Secret prisons? No we don't have any of those.

Secret prisons..... uhh.... yeah we have them.

I really loathe the label "conspiracy theory". The public has been trained to instantly label and dismiss anything that could be construed as a possible conspiracy theory without any critical thought.

If we want these "problems" to stop flourishing, we need to encourage the public to be more aware. We certainly need a new way of describing these things.

That's the next step. How we accomplish that, I don't know.

P.S. The government does make mistakes. Public opinion is the only thing that can put pressure on them to do the right thing.
