I try to avoid reading or watching the mainstream media and particularly the BBC but it has been difficult to ignore the coverage of the ongoing situation in Iran.
To understand what is happening to Iran today you have to go back to 1953 when the elected prime minister of Iran, Mohammad Mosaddegh dared to ask for a fair share of the oil profits that were being taken out of the country by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company (Anglo Persian sounds harmless doesn't it, but basically it was British Petroleum (BP) before it was BP). APOC refused so the Iranian government nationalised the oil industry and as you can imagine, Great Britain was not happy.
Following the nationalisation, the British and American intelligence services (Mi5 and the CIA) started planning the overthrow of the Iranian government to be replaced by a puppet government/leader they controlled. They bribed officials, fermented unrest in the country and did the same old stuff they've done in countless places over the years such as Libya and Syria to name a couple.
The Shah installed by the British and Americans in 1953 ruled for the next 26 years until the 1979 Iranian revolution and since 1979, the British and Americans have done everything they can to weaken the Iranian nation and its people and paint the nation out to be the 'biggest sponsors of terrorism in the world" who cannot be trusted and are building nukes.
Unfortunately for them, Iran, rather than get weaker has gotten stronger and this coupled with the fact that more and more people are thinking logically and critically and realising that Iran isn't the bogeyman it is made out to be, has led to the powers that should not be getting concerned.
You probably remember the list of 7 countries in 5 years that General Wesley Clarke spoke about.
"Well, starting with Iraq, then Syria and Lebanon, then Libya, then Somalia and Sudan, and back to Iran"
Things haven't exactly worked out as planned for the 5 year plan. The failure to overthrow President Assad of Syria has been a major blow following a relatively easy operation to remove Gadaffi from Libya, and Iran is proving to be even more difficult.
The powers that should not be have a plan, and that plan cannot be implemented while independent governments who question their plan, such as Iran and Syria still exist.
This means that when you read and hear reports coming out of the controlled mainstream media saying that the Iranian people are finally rising up against the tyranny of their government, you can be pretty sure that not only are the British and Americans behind it, should the protests be successful and the Iranian government is overthrown, what will replace it will be a lot worse than they have now and will be controlled by Britain and America.
When will the gullible western public ever learn? Hasn't it become obvious now how things work? When was the last time that western intervention in any country under the pretext of helping its citizens achieve 'democracy' or 'human rights' actually led to an improvement in human rights?
The situation we see in Iraq and Libya today should be enough to demonstrate this but clearly not. The old tricks are failing and people are slowly waking up to how the world really works and who runs it, but as those in control become more and more desperate, the measures they take to maintain control will become more desperate.
Many of the Iranians out on the streets aren't old enough to remember what Iran was like before 1979 under defacto British rule and hopefully there are enough people in Iran who do remember to stop the events in Iran escalating to a level at which all Iranians will suffer.
Be prepared for an interesting 2018.
Edited - I checked my Twitter feed just after writing this and as luck would have it saw this.
Spot on @jimbobbill! Thanks for posting this. It's amazing how many people just accept the government fed narrative!
Trump is clearly anti-Iran.
However, Russia foiled the Syrian coup.
Iran is pretty important to China's new silk road, the BRI (belt and road iniative).
Iran is much more powerful than Syria. With these invested interest, I really doubt Iran will get overthrown.

Just mind boggling how they ALWAYS get away with the same tactics.
Probably because they work ...
Nice article. Upvoted and followed!
Thanks for the post. I don'tbelieve Shah was totally western puppet; he failed understanding the measurements of his own power...
Anyway, I'd like to ask you read my last post on Iranian uprising. Thanks
I read it and upvoted.
thanks for your time. I follow your posts :-)
These Protests are springing from the Iranian society ! There were local rallies since several months across the country, the current regime is not that popular.
You should understand, that not every protest in the Middle East is sparked by the West. And you should also learn more about Iran.
Thanks for the reply. I have no doubt that there are a lot of Iranians who dislike the current government (i despise my own) but when western governments along with their propaganda mouthpieces such as the BBC, CNN, FOX News and the rest are constantly pushing the idea that the Iranian people deserve 'democracy' and should be allowed to protest peacefully while at the same time completely ignoring the plight of people in places such as Bahrain or Saudi Arabia where people are being executed for protesting, excuse me for having my doubts. My doubts also come from the fact that we saw similar events in other countries such as Ukraine, Syria and Libya and there is evidence to suggest that these events were also helped along by certain intelligence agencies.
If you are an Iranian citizen and you are out on the streets carrying weapons or setting fire to public buildings why should you be treated any differently than a person who did the same in the United States or United Kingdom? I know what would happen if I tried to kill a police officer or steal guns from a police station. My government certainly wouldn't be calling for restraint and labelling me a peaceful protester for democracy.
this comment is very true and just.
criticizing a government is a right, but riot is a crime in every single corner of the world.
Iran's recipe for better future, freedom and democracy, is consistent and sustainable improvements, not another chaos and revolution
I think we should support the uprisings in middle-east whether they are against US allies or Russian allies because the public of almost the all countries of middle east dislike their own governments. Super powers are protecting their criminal allies for their own benefits but support uprisings against their enemies. They are all evil and millions of people have been killed by them. The revolutionists are not powerful so they sometime get help from other countries but their mistake is not big than the crimes of their governments. We should realize it!
I agree. Government/State is the problem and while people keep believing that a system that is deliberately broken so that it favours that rich and powerful can be made better through voting, or replacing one corrupt leader with another nothing will change. All governments/states are corrupt and the system has been built this way so that people believe they have power when in fact they have none. Unfortunately but not surprisingly the state ensures that the education they provide for free to thier citizens is of the lowest quality and will only produce people who will continue to serve the system/state without question.
Of course, state is deceiving the people, but the fact is that they don't know the reality of this system.
