As far as I am informed, Orwell and Huxley had the same roots, access to the same information, from the same sources. 1984 and "A brave New World" are basically different models of things to come.
Peer pressure, the need to be liked and approved by society can create this kind of self censorship of the crowd. I believe many "Antifa" activists believe they are doing the right thing by fighting fascism, not realizing that they are the fascists themselves.
Labeling others and burning books with the "wrong" message becomes a virtue.
The perpetrators become the "Good Guys". Scary.
