I did some blind testing on this with me and my friends a few years back out of curiosity. We actually had some interesting results.
The funny thing is, figuring out things closer and simpler seemed harder then far away places.
What we did is use a random Longitude and Latitude generator and tried a few methods to figure out what the area looked like in those places. The shocking thing is we were getting pretty accurate as in being able to describe Terran, geography and some landmarks.
By no means was this scientific but to our surprise, somehow we were getting things right. I couldn't begin to fathom how we did it or how the science behind it works but it did for us. Take that as you will.
I think its important to Clarify that it was not 100% yet it appeared to be accurate enough not to be chance.
