With the foundation set, we can put up the walls. This building will act as a permanent hunting blind and be a place for us to stay waiting for wild game to approach. When hunting game its best to get out to your hunting spot hours before the deer or whatever you are hunting is known to come out. So a nice comfy place to rest will be nice, instead of sitting up in a tree or a blind no bigger than a two person tent. Having such a building will be quite the luxury for hunting from.
It is twelve feet by twelve feet wide and has a small porch on the front. The ceiling is nine feet high and has two windows and one door.
First things first was to bring over the four walls, we carried them together a hundred of so feet.. Was not the funnest part of the job...lol Then we attached all four walls to each other and secured to the foundation.
The openings for the door and windows are already built into the frame, so we just need to place them and they are good to go.
Roofing was done using metal sheeting and using planks to screw them into.
Taking a few steps back we can see this building sitting on the retaining wall.
The paneling goes smoothly and was quite nice to have a roof covering us from the hot sun.
Each sheet lays on top of each other and will be sealed with caulk later.
One more roofing panel and its complete.
Next is putting up the door, it went quite smoothly.
Time for a lunch break, my partner brought out some food for me to eat.. thanks honey.
I even got to eat some home made marsh mellows.. yummy.
The windows go in after the door, they are double paned and should be nice and quiet to operate when we see some game outside.
Putting the siding up, we had eight foot panels, so there was a foot or so gap at the bottom we need to deal with later.
Now the siding is all going up, covering the gaps between the windows.
We use a "nibbler" to cut through the sheet metal.
Soon it will be time to start filling up gaps. We do not want rain, or insects to get into the building.
Using expanding foam and silicone caulk on the smaller gaps we fill in everything.
Not the most pretty work but should hold up.
We went through two cans of spray foam and four tubes of caulk. Still need more.
There was a very big gap on one side we filled in with expanding foam. The other side we opted to cut a piece of wood so it wont be so hard to fill in.
So what's next?
We will add insulation to the walls, and add paneling on the inside of the building. We will also build a ceiling and add insulation there as well. Once that is done we can build the floor inside. Not sure how we are going to do that yet. Probably no carpet as it will get really dirty. So I am thinking some kind of pour like people do in garages. We also want to set up a spot light outside shining down on the field to obscure the view of the shooting house to the feet, and to give us better visibility to take the shot.
So still lots to do, but looking forward to setting up in there and waiting for the wild game to walk by. Maybe I will get lucky.

Hahaha... the pinnacle of luxury hunting!!!
sure is! I could not ask for anything nicer really.
Wow wow wow, just wow I never realized the intricacies of constructing a shooting house before. Your attention to detail and dedication to making it functional and safe are very very impressive. It's really inspiring to see your passion for this project. This is definitely a style that would remain even in the future
Thanks, it has been a lot of planning for it but its all coming together now. Really happy I have the resources and time to build it.
I can only imagine how much effort that had to go into this awesome place 👌👌👌 spot on good friend
Out here making it happen! Homemade mashmellows yaaass!!!
Hah yeah man, it was yummy
You have a supportive partner that makes your activity easy. Great.
Thank you, they are quite helpful to me when I am working hard outside.
Yeah. Having someone who support you makes hard easy too.😊
You going to throw a lazy boy in there too? Might need a mini fridge for when you wake up from your nap and want a snack! It looks awesome. That spray foam can be a bit tricky to work with sometimes!
Hah I just might, at the very least some kind of bed. Figured I could nap in there and wake up once in awhile to peer outside to see if theres any deer.
For power it will be limited in that building to just USB chargers. Besides the spot light shining down on the field.
It sure is, stuff was getting all over the place at some points.
I have a permanent stain on my bathroom tile from trying to shore up a ceiling vent with that stuff!
If you’re gonna do it, might as well do it in style LOL looks like it’s going to be a dope ass building! Hopefully you can keep them hogs at bay!
Yeah man I think its going to turn out quite nicely.
Hah.. luckily we do not have hogs in central Virginia yet. But where I used to live we had many.
Did you finish up the work to that length in one day? Naaah, I doubt that.
Even if it looks small, it's more of a technical work containing calculated measurements.
Nope it was about 3 days of work to get this far, still need a few more days to finish.
So true, its been a lot of measuring and double checking. But I think its come together quite nicely.
Okay.
I was initially shocked thinking it was just a day's work.
I have been involved in construction works like that I know how time consuming it is👌
I see that you have everything thought out, and with all the elements you are making a great hunting place, I have no doubt that you will have great success.
Excellent job building the shot hunt @solominer
I hope this building ends up being a good resource for us on the farm for collecting meat from the wild.
Thank you
Wow! You really make it so beautiful and luxurious.... happy to see that you share those beautiful things with you all step by step 😍
It's fun to eat while working😊
Much appreciated, its pretty amazing how far its come.
Hah yeah, good food is important when working hard.
Hello dear friend @solominer good morning
How great it is to see the progress of your hunting area, it really is looking beautiful.
An excellent construction idea
Good morning, thank you its really coming together now.
Do you shoot deers on the woods? Anyway, this house is a good place to stay with and for having a picnic in the woods or for temporary stay.
We shoot them when they come into the field to feed. I planted cover and other things they like so it should attract htem.
Sure will be fun, for many things.
The place you will use for hunting is quite luxurious. Sorry about the deers, I hope you hunt the oldest ones.
A suitable place for the summer season. It will protect you sufficiently in rainy weather.
It would be quite the awesome setup inside when all completed.
I need to get out there and sit inside while its raining to see how all that sealing did. I may need to add more but we shall find out when it rains.
This shooting house of yours is so nice.
I love how you all over there build stuff like this without needing the help of an expert, over here the reverse is the case.
Good job!!
Thank you. Yep doing our best to build it on our own. Since building a chicken and duck house it gave me the courage to build something bigger like this building.
So awesome man!
I remember back when this homestead was just a dream and then a plan starting to take form. So envious of where it has come so far and the life you are building for generations out there!
Better wear some hearing protection or soundproof that like a music studio or it will be an echo chamber of insane noise enough to scare away deer for miles!
Nice work again old friend.
It is quite cool seeing all the ideas coming to form now on this property.
Ah yeah true it will be quite loud. Will need to bring some hearing protection when I take the shot.
Thanks man, glad you are enjoying seeing it all come along.
Luxury hunting at its finest 😆
its like glamping.. so I guess its glunting. lol
Your hunting house is so beautiful. How many days you was needed to complete it
thank you
We have already spent about 3 days building it, probably need another 3 days to finish it.
