History of My City.
The name Lhokseumawe comes from the words "Lhok" and "Seumawe". "Lhok" means deep moat, bay, sea and Lhokseumawe means water spinning in the sea along the offshore. This area is associated with the emergence of the Pasai Ocean kingdom around the 13th century, which then came under the sovereignty of the Aceh Sultanate in 1511.
