I usually read prose, probably due to lack of time (or bad organization of time). You need to focus on poetry more than on prose.
However, one of my favorite poets is Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński. He is a polish poet, one of the greatest author of his generation. He died during World War II, exactly during the Warsaw Uprising, at the young age. Althought that, he left a few hundred of poems, and some short stories.
If you want, you may easy find on youtube, and listen one of his poems (in my opinion one of best polish poems of all the time) performed by Polish musician Grzegorz Turnau "Znów Wędrujemy" (We are wandering again).
