RE: Gaming contest! Tell me about a game that you like to play and win SBD! (3 SBD prize pool)

in #contest7 years ago

Hi @ferow. I more of a retro gamer than a current gen gamer (even though I own all the new consoles and a bunch of games for them). My favorite games are Secret of Mana (best music in gaming) and Doom. However, those are probably already in your radar. The game I would like to submit is Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. I have been a fan of the Resident Evil series since the PS1 days, but I grew tired of the series and didn't play RE5 and RE6. Once RE7 was released it intrigued me enough to come back to the series. The perspective changed from third person to first person and it became less of an action game and more suspense and horror.

The game starts with the player in the role of Ethan whose wife which has gone missing and presumed dead, suddenly contacts him and tells him that she is being keep prisoner in the basement of an abandoned house in the middle of a forest. You run into the house and almost immediately find out that its not abandoned at all, but there is a crazy family that make you feel as if you stepped into a Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie.

The great thing about this game is the sense of immersion. If the player so chooses he/she can read newspaper/diaries, watch videotapes, and listen to audio tapes to really get into the game's world. The ambiance is thick with tension, so much so that I would jump when I heard a noise in my house, much to the amusement of my wife lol. The amount of detail in the environment is exquisite. You can get lost just appreciating the attention to detail.

Lastly, the first person view is excellently used. It makes you feel like the things that are happening are truly happening to you. You cringe when you get stabbed in the hand. The AI is excellent. In one of the fights I saw the enemy through a hole in the wall. I realized I was under powered so I through an item to get her off my trail-- it seemed to work so I shimmed through the wall but it was tight so I couldn't turn my head. When I thought I was all the way through she grabbed me from the back pulled me out and killed me. I was happily terrified. Moments like this happen all the time in this game. This would also be a great game for you to stream. I am sure that your fans would love to see you scared out of your wits. Just remember to play in the dark. This game is available on PS4, XBox One and Steam.

Hi @andykapps,

This is an amazing entry, i enjoyed every word of it.

Resident evil is a very famous game, i think most gamers have played atleast one of the versions of this game. As i read what you wrote, RE7 seems to be a very improved version of it. I'm thinking, streaming this game would mostly involve me screaming and scaring my wife and viewers, which would actually be awesome. I remember it was already frightening back in the old days, i could only imagine how scary it is in the latest version.

Thanks alot for your entry, very well done!
