Question 1

Tell us how you came to Steemit. Consider covering things like:

Who referred you?
What were your reasons for getting involved?
What were your first impressions?

Answer 1

Steemit was introduced to me by a high school friend. He's not active anymore but I stayed here, mainly because answer No3. I was attracted to Steemit idea basically because you can do here more or less everything like on other social networks, but in return you get crypto $. And since I was already into crypto, the question "why not" didn't had an answer. So I joined. My first impressions were that it was impossible to get any SP/SBD/STEEM. Curating with delegated 15SP was close to impossible. After discovering contests SBD started pouring in (not really pouring it was more like drop by drop but it doesn't matter). Then I tried writing, again within contests. With commenting other contestants, social network friendships started to happen. And now I'm really happy I stayed active, unlike my friend who brought me here.

What do you think outsiders do not know about the country you are currently residing in? (Think of food, peculiar laws, courting rituals, etc)

Well this one is fun, because I'm from Croatia. I assure everyone that there are a lot of things that you don't know about it, or the people here. There is a lot of things unknown to foreigners, some good and some of them not so good. I'll share some of them with you in this post.
Did you know when you get a speeding ticket in Croatia, if you pay on the site you'll get 50% off?
Did you know that in Croatia you have 3 main dialects, and many more variations of each one of them? They can be so different that the speakers from different dialects can't understand each other until they start to speak pure Croatian language.
Did you know that Croatia will be world champion this year?
I could go on like this for a while, but let's leave something for a different post.

My favorite blogger on Steemit is @f3nix, by a mile from anyone else. He's working so hard with "Finish the story contest" where he (or sometimes some other contestants) provide the script/beginning of a story and to enter you need to finish the story with your view. Those girls and guys there are so supportive to everyone. And that community is growing pretty fast. I am honored to be a part of it.
