How To: Weekly

A NEW contest to show the Steemit world what you are made of, so others can make it!

Do you have a ‘How To’ you would like to share with your fellow Steemit members?

Are you a master at your craft and wish to share how you created, cooked, fixed or renovated it? Well, we have decided to hold this weekly contest to help you do so.

‘How To: Weekly’ is a weekly contest to showcase your creativity and knowledge. By sharing your talents, you have the potential to win Steem Backed Dollars and gain new followers, supporters and upvotes from readers. Each day of the week will feature a new topic for you to enter the contest.

Who can enter?

Anyone on Steemit can enter this contest, however, all entries must be written in English and must be original content created by yourself. This is to showcase your knowledge and talent on this platform.

What can we enter?

You must enter your own original content from the daily list below in the form of a step-by-step 'How To' guide. If cheetah or we discover that you have plagiarised something from the internet, the entry will be void. You must not enter the same ‘How To’ week after week.

All entries are to be text and image based. No videos (at this stage).

Daily Topics

Sunday: Art / Craft / Design

Sunday

Monday: Fitness / Health / Beauty

Monday

Tuesday: Coding / Programming

Tuesday

Wednesday: Life Hacks - Ideas to make life easier

Wednesday

Thursday: Home Decorating / Gardening / Renovation

Thursday

Friday: Food / Drink / Cooking

Friday

Saturday: Open – Any ‘How To’ that has not been allocated. Maybe about Steemit, Photography, Car repair, Fishing, Holidays, etc…

Saturday

Prior topics allocated will not be accepted on a Saturday.

If you are knowledgeable in more than one area, you may submit one entry for each daily topic.

How do we enter and what tags do we use?

Your title should look something like this:
My Recipe for Amazing Burgers: Steemit How To contest for Friday by (and your @username)

If you enter on a Monday, use Monday instead and so on.

2 tags must be used in your entry. For example, if you enter on Sunday use the tag #howtosunday along with the tag #howtoweekly so we can find you.

Does it matter how we present the entry?

Yes, absolutely. Please make it clear, concise and readable, but most of all, easy to follow for your readers. Use at least one or more clear images with a step-by-step guide. Please do not beg to win or send any form of spam, this will void your entry. Your entry can be any length it requires, so long as it conveys the message you are trying to send in full.

Can we enter more than once each week?

Yes! However, only one entry per daily topic. If you have more than one topic to share, enter in the next weeks contest and so on.

Can we win more than once in the week?

Absolutely yes! If you have entered more than one entry over different topics you can win more than once that week. There are 3 tiers 1st, 2nd and 3rd place that is judged from all entries received that prior week.

What is the prize pool and when is it awarded?

There will be a weekly prize draw covering 1st, 2nd and 3rd place over all categories.
All authentic entries received during the week of submissions will be judged and awarded 7 days after close of contest that week. The prize money will grow as the contest itself grows.

The initial prize pool is 10 SBD each week and split as follows:

  • 1st place: 5 SBD
  • 2nd place: 3 SBD
  • 3rd place: 2 SBD

Will this weekly contest be ongoing and will it be the same topics each week?

We really hope this will be ongoing. Many people have so much to contribute and many others love to learn new crafts or hacks.
This contest will run initially for 4 weeks, however, if it is well received, we will run it longer and the prize money will grow.
The topics will remain the same, so you can prepare easily. If you have a topic you wish to share that is not mentioned, you can enter on Saturday which is an open topic day.

How do we know if we have won?

We will announce the winners on our page one week after the week you entered closes. Please make sure it is tagged correctly and you are following our page so you don’t miss the announcement. We will submit your prize to you at the same time.

When does this contest start and close?

The contest runs from Sunday to Saturday each week starting this Sunday, the 25th Feb. Winners will be notified and announced the following Sunday.
The deadline for each topic is 23:59 AEST (UTC+10) that day. This is Australian Eastern Standard Time.

Cheers mate, thanks so much!

Got to get my head around the time zone but I'll give it a go.

We're not too worried about that, the world is a big place. So feel free to enter on your corresponding day if you like. It's only gonna be a few hours difference anyway.

Seems like a cool contest and a great way to find a topic to write about.

Thank you!

Cannot wait for this!! What fun!!

Hello, please follow the rules of the group Steemit for Resteem ↕ with more than 19000 members and you will be resteemed by the most active members in the group.

You have to resteem someone from the group and pay 0.15 steem or steem dollar to clixmoney and then post in the group and you will be approved, upvoted by clixmoney with an upvote worth 0.15 and active members of the group, and resteemed by other members.

If you pay 0.75 steem or steem dollar you get all of that + my resteem to more than 3000 followers and you don't have to resteem anyone in this case.

@moneyinfant has added your contest to the list Steemit Writing Contests: Issue #35. The list is updated on a daily basis and your contest will remain on the list until its expiration - there's nothing you need to do.

The list was created to save writers the excessive amount of time spent searching through the #contest tag for writing contests. Now they can just come to the list each day, see new contests and use their time doing what they love - writing.

If you'd like to help spread the word about the Steemit Writing Contest List I'd really appreciate a resteem, but it certainly isn't necessary. The project is simply meant to help writers save time and contest creators attract more contestants.

P.S. If you know of any contests I've missed I'd love to hear about them. Thanks!

I don't know how anyone will find a writing contest that you have missed... I am trying very hard; perhaps I could host a contest for that :D

LOL. Trust me, it's happened a few times :)

Hi @aoart, I think this is a great contest and that it is on @moneyinfant's writing contest list, and not sure if it is also on @artz's list of contests. If you would like to share this with all the people that follow @newbieresteemday or @newbiegames feel free to add the tag #newbieresteemday and #newbiegames and we can let newcomers who want ideas for posts and competitions to enter join as well.

I'm actually ending the contest this week. It has not been received well and I was made aware by others it's not quality content. So it's going.
Thanks for the links however. If I create a new one, I'll let them know.
