Phew... I'm running a bit late on posting this round! Sadly, I'm finding myself mostly on mobile at the moment and so I'm not always with a laptop, which would make it easier to post longer posts...
Anyway, thanks to everyone who put in an entry for the last round, Who Eats the Crust? Lots of little tiny and interesting acts of unrecognized heroism in there!
This week, I'm finding myself gearing up for quite a numebr of concerts... which means that I'm raiding the sock drawer more and more... and it led me to thinking how essential this little piece of clothing is... and how many people use it to make little character statements!
My Question
- What are your socks like? Do you have a favourite pair?
My sample answer
Well... I'm a pretty functional guy, and so I have very very plain Explorer hiking socks which I use regardless of whether I'm wearing walking boots or if I'm wearing concert dress shoes on stage! Yup, completely and utterly oblivious to fashion... that's the statement that I'm making with my socks!
Actually, I do love my hiking socks, as they are very warm and durable. There is something very comforting about having warm feet that just makes any situation bearable!
However, over half of my socks are black... due to the need for black shoes and pants in my job. So, my only concession to a bit of fashionable flair is the occasional different colour... like dark green or dark blue!
Haha... so, that's me in a nutshell... I prefer functionality... and that shows in my choice of preferred socks!

Steem Basic Income
One of the first communities that I came in contact with at the beginning of my time at Steemit was @steembasicincome. As a author starting out on your fresh new Steemit account, Steemit can be a daunting and lonely place to be. OFten, it can feel like you are posting into an abyss with no one listening and with no ability to grow out of the situation. A share of Steem Basic Income gives you a guaranteed vote on one post a day, thus giving you a small but over time cumulative support to your account to help grow you out of your initial wilderness!

Haha my collection of socks is even more boring then yours @bengy mine are mostly all black as it's required for my work I have a few grey and navy pairs but done away with all whites years ago, I have had people complain how my sock choice is so boring so in the last few years I brought ones with more colours even characters, but am still to wear most of them as I still have many plain black ones.
Ha ha, glad I'm not the only one! I hate having different ones for work and normal life, especially when you are packing in the dark or fun light... No chance of getting the wrong ones!

My socks...Because I wear jeans 90% of the time, most of the socks are dull and dark, just like the shoes. In the summer just the same, just a bit thinner.
Hmmm... Lots of people seem to have both thick and thin socks... Maybe I should think about that.

As for my thoughts on socks..
My socks vary based on function rather than fashion. In the winter, I prefer longer, warmer socks, and in the summer I wear short cut, ankle socks.. or no socks at all!

My socks are mostly simple black or white tube socks. I have thinner ankle socks for the summer though. No favorite pair in particular though

I only have few pairs now, and I like then black always, and half side, the type you'll wear and wouldn't have the long sleeve that reaches your leg joint.

In the past when I still liked going up the mountain I had long socks. This is very useful to protect the feet from the cold mountain air and protect from animal bites such as leech and mosquitoes. It can even be used in the hands if you don't wear gloves.
My favorite socks are darker colors, like brown, blue or black.
Socks on the hands! That's quick lateral thinking! Dark colours for me as well..

For the most part my socks are basic plain black or white. But for the past few years I've been getting a pair or two of fancy patterned socks. I used to only wear them on special occasions but now I have quite a few pairs which I wear regularly as my every day drivers. Here are a few of them.

I like my socks colorful and pretty. Fabric should be not too thin, not too thick, no warm socks. I like normal socks which can just prevent my feet from dirt and increase the colors in my outfit.

Socks, eh? ;) Well mine are quite functional, as well, considering I spend my days in running or other athletic shoes. White, gray or black mostly. Though a funny bit of personal trivia, I used to shop more often in the men's athletic department for socks because they didn't have women's large enough to be comfortable. I have had much more luck lately as they seem to have finally starting making more for us larger-footed ladies, haha!
Ha... That sounds a bit like me. In Netherlands, most people are pretty tall... So I find myself sometimes looking at kids teen clothes, which are a better fit for me!

I wear plain black socks. I wear a size 14 (US) shoe, so it's a challenge to find any socks in my size that don't cost as much as two normal feet. It would be neat to have cool socks in my size though. 😁

You have not experienced true happiness until you've spent a day in a pair of Darn Tough socks. https://darntough.com/ When I'm not hiking up mountains, I'm working on rooftops. It will be a miserable day if I don't have my Darn Tough socks. I mean, words can't really do it justice, it's that good. Worth every penny for those who might scoff at $20 socks. This isn't a paid endorsement, just someone who hasn't had smelly or sweaty feet, or blisters, in years.
Hmm.. I'm curious! Good socks are pretty undervalued. If you have miserable feet, then it can really get to you... Wet, cold or just uncomfortable... It just makes everything unbearable!

Here in our country, since it is tropical in here, I prefer using pair of foot socks which is convenient to use especially that I am fond of wearing low cut snickers, which I pair with my short pants.
Wearing high socks is kinda warm but if I will be in a place where the temperature is quite low, that's what I used for better comfort.
I prefer those dark colored ones, like black or gray since it is what I am accustomed using since I was in school. I only wore white socks when I was in nursing school since it is the appropriate attire together with the white uniform.

I love socks! I must wear one when I go to sleep, I have some for exercises or going out! So I have countless pairs!! Hahaha
I started wearing socks in winter to bed... I never used to in Australia, but Europe gets much colder... And if your feet are cold, you aren't going to sleep!

Hi! My socks are usual. Nothing espesial but for me important that they should be produced from natural cotton or something like this. I don't like bamboo or something sinthetic. Also socks should be comfortable and needed size. And of course have long live and functional!
