Changes Are Being Made
Unfortunately I need to make some changes to my blog and my contests for various reasons. I have been putting in a lot of work to keep these contests running. I appreciate all of the "real" active participants who play on a daily basis and even just on a weekly basis. As you know there has been an increasing amount of new "Rep 25" accounts which have appeared out of the wood work. I recently made a post and created a black list to ban these users from my contests. The amount of work that I put into this hockey contest is substantial. I have decided perhaps I need to simmer down on the contest side of things and also work on creating some real posts of interest.
Why?
I feel that I need to expand my audience in more ways then just sports contests. I want to create some friendships on Steemit and interact more. I am going to be cutting back on the contests and focusing on both content that I feel is interesting as well as contests.
Each week I will post the following:
- 1 - NFL Contest
- 1 - NHL Contest
- 1 - PGA Contest
Contest Schedule
It's Time To Evolve!!!
The evolution of my Steemit account is a must. I feel like I'm on the brink of insanity. I personally do not want to open another account to run contests and one to be a real person in. I need to do both from the same account. I think doing as many contests as I have been doing as well as posting regular posts would be overwhelming for you guys. This is why I have chosen to complete both in moderation.
Definitely understandable, @hendrix22. It really does take a lot of time and effort to stay on top of contests, and I've only run weekly ones. Running a daily contest has to be a huge commitment. I'm looking forward to checking out the other content that you post in the future.
Yes @misko it really does. I ran the MLB Pitching contest daily and now the NHL Contest daily and it's just too much.
Understandable as the battle against bots/shell accounts has to happen. You gotta love (sarcasm) the people that put a picture of a butt (and not even theirs) and make a buck off of it. I'll miss your vegas sportsbook type contests especially.
I know I apologize @vicspics I love these contest formats as well. Hopefully you stick around to still play the weekly contests and maybe I'll do daily again in the future. I think I just need a break.
No apology needed, it's got to be a pain to catch late entrants/edits after the cut off, people complaining about a free contest, etc.
Hey @hendrix22, just want to say thanks for all the effort, time and hard work that you've put in, i'll be saddened to see the daily contest go, but can completely empathise with, and understand your decision. I look forward to reading your future posts. Thank you.
You're welcome! Thank you for being appreciative of all that I've done. I know you'll be saddened as well as me. I do hope that you'll stick around for the weekly contests and perhaps some random ones as well.
Yeah, for sure buddy, i look forward to them.
reaally great development
I just want to say thank you for providing us with these great contests. Daily contests are a real grind. Your hard work is appreciated by the real sports fans who get a kick out of trying to win. It's supposed to be fun. If it isn't fun for you why bother? There is enough stress in life.
Hoping we can get to know each other better in the future. So far I know you hate Dylan Bundy and love the Trailer Park Boys. That makes you alright in my book.
Damn Im a miss playing your daily contest man. I wouldn't get in every day just based on when you post because I'm in europe right now but I had a blast playing them.
I saw this one coming since I saw your video from coming back from work. Few times I saw you posting NHL contest hour before first game. i assumed it was in some hurry just to post it on time. Few times to do that is bearable, but everyday it's not. Happy to see more posts about you!
Makes total sense to me. I'm following you anyway so I'll check out the new posts and hit the hockey contest once a week.
Definitely easier to grow your attendance by posting things of personal interest to you first. Makes it feel like less of a robotic relationship. You do contest, I try to make $$.
I've built my listener base by mixing in personal stuff with my weekly podcast post. You get on autopilot as a reader if an author puts out something that looks the same all the time.
Good luck man.
Sad news for hockey fans, but if it is taking so much time it is completely understandable. Because of this news, I made new hockey contest. Can you check it out? Thanks.
Yo man! I haven't been on too much lately as I've really just been consumed with some other things of late but I was setting an NBA Fan Duel lineup and decided to pop on Steemit particularly to play your hockey contest. That said, I'm very sad to be reading this. You know I'm really not a huge jockey guy anymore but this was getting me back into it. I completely understand where you are coming from though and it's really sad to me honestly. I went back and upvoted everything that hasn't paid out as I know how much work doing a daily contest can be and the compensation is honestly minimal. I know it's not about that but nonetheless. I hope to be back on here a but more soon and I know I'll see ya around. I look forward to reading some of the stuff you want to get back to, and will savor the weekly contest even more now!!
Totally understand.
Love your contests, and I realize that it takes a lot of work.
Appreciate what you have been doing.
