Ngozi stood by the window staring into space. Why had life treated her this way? Why was it so unfair? What wrong had she done? Every man she had ever loved ended up jilting her. Life as she knew it was a journey of heartbreaks. First, it was Jide, he was funny, caring, loving and romantic. He worshipped her like a goddess, if anybody had told her Jide would hurt her, she would never have believed. Five years down the line, she had dated a total of eight men. None of those relationships worked out. Her heart had been broken beyond repair. She wasn't sure she could ever love again. She never liked admitting to this, but the happenings in her life had left her no choice; "all men are the same". To her they were all bloody liars and cheats, yet something told her she was concluding too soon.
She picked up her phone, thumbed through for some seconds and the text appeared. She read it with tears in her eyes, for the umpteenth time; "Life as we know it doesn't give us what we wish for. I'm sorry, i'd have to break up with you".
