A looming deadline motivates me. When I absolutely have to get something done because if I don't do it now it will never get done. Then, and probably only then, I will do it.
Sometimes I try and trick myself into thinking I've put things off way too long and they absolutely must be done now because I won't have any time later. When really I find myself with a lot of time because I rushed what I had to do and probably didn't do the best job I could. But it's done!

Hey @kieranstone, deadline really pushes us to get things done right? Let's say it's exam tomorrow, and I'm 100% motivated to study all of the chapters :P
How did you trick yourself into thinking you must absolutely get things done now? I'd like to learn some tricks from you too :)
I'm with you on that. I work well under pressure too! Such is Parkinson's Law. Thanks for your entry!
This one is true!
This makes me remember when i was in college.... I did play hard all semester.... But then, I realise that man, finals are just two weeks away, the day is so near.... I studied like my life depended on it.... Which it actually did anyway, and that fast approaching day spurs me on to success. Mad I know, but it always worked. Lol
80/20 rule - better done than perfect. I try and apply it at work or personal life all the time but I am a bit of perfectionist (secretly) so doesn't always work ;-)
