One of the statements below is untrue, the rest are true. Can you pick which one is the lie?
- I was only 16 when I started University
- I’ve broken a plank of wood with the side of my hand
- I was in my 30’s before I learnt to ride a bicycle
- I’ve sung with the NZ Symphony Orchestra
- My first boyfriend was born on exactly the same day as I was
- The last time I vomited was 1982
- I’ve been photographed up a ladder, in my underwear, on a busy city street
- I ate no plant foods for an entire year
- I’ve danced naked on a tabletop
- I drank my own urine
- I was chosen for not one, but two, jobs because they thought I would be tough enough to handle the difficult people I’d need to work with and not take their nonsense (to clarify, two different jobs at two different times)
Make your guess in the comments below, and the first person to pick the right one will win half the SBD from this post. Winner announced in a week’s time!
I was nominated for this fun contest by @dreemsteem. I’m nominating @sift666, @dreemit, @kiwiscanfly, @themagus and @len.george – you don’t have to give away half the SBD, that’s my own choice.
Thanks for reading

I am going to go with boring old no 3, I bet you could ride a bike from a young age!
You're in the privileged position of being one of the few people on Steemit who knows the story behind one of the truths - 3 who know me IRL, and you and @dreemit. I realise I'm now going to have to share at least an abbreviated version of the story on the blockchain...
Hehe, I did giggle when I read that one and thought aha, at least I know that one ain't the lie!!
Ditto to the giggle and the thought that accompanied it! Haha!
Hee hee ;)
I will go for I’ve broken a plank of wood with the side of my hand
I always use my forehead to do that LOL
Haha. You're just trying to prove you're stauncher than me. That wouldn't be hard.
I think I M proving I am more stupid not staunch lol
Hi kiwi..
I think its number 10..
You are a nutritionist and conscious about diet.. So i think you cant drink such thing..
Yes, a lot of people are having trouble believing that one. :-)
I think it might be: #8: I ate no plant foods for an entire year
Only because I think it may have been under a year? But I have the advantage in knowing you in real life and know a few of these are absolutely true, so I can rule them out. Or in. Or round tuit.
I might have to disqualify you ;-)
Quite right. I shouldn't be included in the competition. I just wanted to join in the fun of being one of the cool kids that knows you in real life :D
Ohhh, a nomination of fun! I'll have to get on this...tomorrow since today is St. Pat's and a friend's 40th, need to get ready!
Hmm, so you were one of the four copiers ;)
Huh, well I would choose number three, but I'm guessing it was Ian who taught you how to ride one of his, pshaw, ten thousand bicycles.
I'm going with number two. I believe you certainly tried to break a plank, but perhaps never actually did?
No, definitely not a copier. Maybe a moral supporter. Unless we're both lying of course...
#2 - Maybe I tried, maybe I imagined I did, maybe I actually did...
Looking forward to your list, it could be wilder than mine.
I believe the falsehood is #4. As most symphony orchestras do not have vocalists.
But, i do not know much about the NZ Symphony Orchestra.
The rest of them are fairly common, but a bit on the unusual side.
That's a very good point, mostly they don't. Though sometimes they will accompany a vocalist. We still have to wait 6 days before I can tell you...
Yep, and symphonies usually do not play with rock and roll bands... but sometimes they do, like Classical Gas - Mason Williams
Nice.
Well, I was going to say #6 but @alignment beat me to it! So, I'll go with #3.
Two very popular options ;-) It's fascinating to see which ones are being chosen. Put your thinking cap on, a little bird tells me that you might get a nomination soon...
Bring it on! I love these kinds of contests!!
Thanks for sharing @kiwideb.
These posts are going around. I was even nominated to do one and will get a round tuit someday.
I have to chose number 6
Some how I don't believe that. Especially looking at your picture in the purple dress. You must have a strong stomach to deal with those spins.
With gentelness,
@mineopoly
Yes, those round tuits are so useful. I've been meaning to get myself one or two for so many years! I hear they're especially good for vomiting into ;-)
LOL. I have a bad habit of not laughing or smiling enough. But you are wonder from down under. How can you make me laugh?
When I first visited my wife's home town they didn't have a round tuit. There was just a hole in the ground outside.
Have a great day.
Hmm, if you don't laugh or smile enough, you definitely need to do some laughter yoga with your class. Or you need to follow my sister @andysantics48, she's much funnier than me.
"The last time I vomitted was 1982" is the baloney one :) ....
thanks for the nomination .... I shall ponder my questions over the weekend.!!
I'm getting the distinct impression that everybody else vomits a lot more than I do! Look forward to seeing your list.
I am stuck after 9 facts ... it seems it is a LOT easier to lie than to come up with interesting or arb facts.
I see you have managed to though... {moseys off to check it out}
I'll go with 6. The last time I vomited was 1982.
Sounds too darn long ago. :-)
Ah, but you do have to remember that I'm old ;-) It's going to feel like a long week, till I can tell you all.
Number 1 is a true LIE. You can't join university at 16. Dear @kiwideb, keep up with these contests. Great post though! Thanks for contest. Thanks for sharing.
You caught me out! Or did you? We will see...
OK. I will be patiently waiting :D
This post has been upvoted and resteemed. I need my followers to participate too and have fun :D
Lots of people go to university at 16. It is becoming far more common when highschools are getting dumbed down, and also fast tracking to colleges. So, many kids now test out of highschool, or "finish" their highschool with college courses.
I think it's more than 18 years. Anyway let's wait for the judge @kiwideb :)
Number 8 mainly as its sounds difficult to do but then again what do i know lol :)
You're right, it's not easy. But are you right? ;-)
I have just done a post myself, phewwwww. lol
I am never right lol :)
I managed to get one right, on my second guess (but there weren't many left by that time)
Its hard to chose especially on here as people have done so much compared to what I have done :)
I found your one hard to choose too, but I finally made up my mind, and picked (just now).
It was hard to write lol
Ohhhhhh I'm really hoping that the lie is #10!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 If not....thennnnn you need to tell me a VERY good story hehehehe
I will tell a very good story for each of them. Well, hopefully others will think they are all good stories...
Tomorrow I will reveal my lie hehehehe -it was guessed! 😜
#11 is the lie..as for #10 who hasn't?
I am really surprised you have not had a double movement??
Having seen me in person, you know I'm not scary at all, but did I manage to fool others into thinking I was? We have to wait and see.
Do I want to know what a double movement is? I suspect I don't...
Most of them are difficult to believe, But no way you didn't vomit for 36 years, It is more than one third of a century. I pick #6.
Very good logical argument there, but is it correct? Time will tell, bwahahaha ...
Waiting for the announcement. :)
Actually there are all kinds of conditions that prevent one from vomiting. It is not as uncommon as one would think.
Though, it is the most uncommon on your list. 🤔
@builderofcastles I'm fascinated by how you phrased this: "conditions that prevent one from vomiting" as if vomiting was a normal activity, but certain things could stop it. To me, not vomiting is the normal condition and only a limited number of things would cause it. Of course, those things are not rare - eg motion sickness, too much alcohol or food, food poisoning, gastro bugs or other illness - but they're not everyday either. I would have to be extremely lucky to have not had any of those things in all this time. Maybe I have been????
Being able to vomit is normal. Because, every once in a while we put things in our bellies that ought not be there, and so the body has a way of purging the stomach.
However, if we could avoid putting bad things in our stomach, we would never need to vomit. Now, if stores would stop selling bad food.
So, it is nice not to vomit, but it is bad to not be able to vomit. There are emotional trauma conditions that end up with not being able to vomit.
Agreed.
I'm going with #3.
you're a kiwi and you grew up when riding your bike around the neighborhood was just something you did. If you didn't have a bike you 'borrowed' one.
All the others are, well, just normal things really (mostly) ;-)
I would be a very odd kiwi bird if #3 is actually true. But I can be a bit odd, you know. Roll on next Friday for the grand unveiling...
I'm going to say #8. I know you're a meat eater, but you're also a healthy eater, and would have to know going without any plant foods for a year is ill-advised. That would do some terrible things to your health. I have a tough time buying it, so I'm going with that one. :)
I'm a bit surprised it took so long for someone to pick that one, but I should have known you;d spot it ;-) Not that I'm admitting anything yet - {chants} maybe, maybe not.
#8 no plant food. You wild thing you.
Ha, so you admit I'm wild enough for everything else, but not wild enough to go Carnivore. Is he right, folks? We'll see...
The only way you would only eat meat for a year is if silf666 had you in a cage and pushed in the raw meat.
Hahaha.
#10!
You really, really want us both to be lying about that, don't you? Maybe we both are... ;-)
Did you pick that up...? hahahahahaha!!! (You are lying aren't you???) What disturbs me is that more people haven't picked #10
I have to say 10 as 2 jobs is just too much stress to put somebody under. Would be irresponsible of the employer lol
I could have phrased that better. I meant two different jobs on two different occasions. Wanna guess again or will you stick with that one anyway?
That seems more believable now, I will go with drinking your own urine then as that is the only one I hope is not true lol
I thought that one would freak most people out, though an equal number seem to be freaked out by the idea of not having vomited for all those years. Time will tell.
I have a pretty strong stomach and haven't thrown up myself for a number of years now so I can believe that one :)
