Grab your camera and have a look about. Once you find your subject you won't have to rush because these creatures move at a "snail's" pace! You'll have plenty of time to fiddle with the settings on your camera and pick the best possible angle to shoot from. Doesn't that sound stress free?
Why such a non hurried approach to wildlife photography? Because we're looking for beautiful photographs of snails.

I found this little fellow at the bottom of my swimming pool yesterday. I picked him up and put him on the border of the pool and managed to get a couple of nice photos!
This tiny guy was no bigger than a 25 cent piece. What a beautiful creature!
Lot's of contrasting textures and shades here. I hope that he's still OK and enjoying life!

I captured this rare shot of a giant German snail during a brief visit to Octoberfest in Munich. They grow so big because they live off of spilled beer during the festival (there is a lot of spilled beer). I am quite lucky that, although huge, they are still quite slow - or I would never have escaped with my life (I was walking with a cane at the time).
My my, that is a large specimen. Beer has been a factor in my growth as well!
I know, eh? All those people telling us that beer would stunt our growth when we were young were just trying to spoil our fun. I mean, look at our bellies! "Stunt your growth" my ass.

Where do I get the ideas? There's a formula:
Take 1/10th of @vee2180's artistic talent. Mix in 1/20th of her eye for color and add a lot of fun! Voila I can come up with a silly idea for a contest!

Soooo .... I had a lot of time to prepare for this shot. Snails are usually slow indeed, but these ... they didn't go anywhere.
These were taken in one of the most famous restaurant in Paris - Bouillon Chartier.
BTW: does this still counts as wildlife photography? =)

Hmm I got a colorful leach, but no shell. I will have to paddle down to the swamp and see if I can scare up any snails! This really is a challenge!

Crap! it's a bummer that I can't compete due to my foggy memory. But in any case, I suspect that rather @onceuponatime limping with his cane and beer in hand showing us his giant Octoberfest mollusk or @ace108 with his erotic snail intercourse... they both surely will wipe out all the prizes anyway. :p

I would but the snails here are boring with grey shells. Not a speck of colour to be seen and at this time of year they are hard to find too.
I guess they are what you call seasonal snails.
With the low participation lately you still might be in it to win it with a boring grey shell!

For my second entry i will give you this huge ice-cream cone snail that was living in an abandon tombstone head in one of Bangkok's abandon cemeteries i was walking through i couldn't help notice this massive snail it was the size of one of them prime mover trucks i reckon it could carry a load...lol :)

Well I finally got my video promotion done! I am promoting your contest and jokingly adding the Smallest Snail in the World because we all have heard that size doesn't matter lol.
My buddy the Old Dog @kus-knee has a cool contest going on called "Come Out of Your Shell". He is looking for photos of snails and their shells. Well this lil guy is not the biggest snail, nor the prettiest snail. But hey, we have all heard size doesn't matter, right lol. So give it up for tiny snails!!!

Sure thing! He is a master of camouflage. We believe him to be the smallest snail in the world, but we have not heard back from the Guinness Book of World Records lol.
This first shot is showing just how tiny he is.
For being such a tiny lil guy, he does have some nice coloring to match his background!

Walking through a botanical garden the other day looking for snails i spotted this huge snail marking it's way up this tree it was one damn big snail the shell was almost the size of my fist unfortunately it was to high up the tree for me to get a real close up photo.
