Wowwww... this is beautiful! Thank you so much for this writing... and also the story that underlies it.. I really appreciate you taking the extra time to add the photos and transport us to this lake that was such a big part of your life and a reason that you are the way you are.
When you are near an expanse of water like that... it's difficult not to connect with nature in a new way!
I am glad to hear you see the beauty everywhere now...
because the truth is beauty is all around us, always.
It's a beautiful story and I chose this prompt because I am on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala at the moment... one of the most mystical and magical places I've ever been to... I've been here for 6 months but I leave now in 2 weeks to return to London for a while... it feels weird!
But this lake too has totally changed me in many ways... and I'll always be so grateful for that, so I resonate with your piece.
I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your family friend, but he is with you now, even as you write this and I read it... and I know he is smiling! :)

Your lake sounds amazing! My daughter is at university in London at the moment. She'll be coming home in June. She's on her own adventure quite a ways from any lakes I think! But the river and parks will help her stay connected.
I'll keep an eye out for next week's contest. Thank you for the time you spend creating and managing them.

Yess London has it's fair share of nature in there for a big city... but after a long time it takes it's toll... but I am sure she is having the time of her life there... it's a vibrant and exciting city - even better as a visitor though I think!
