After a week on steemit, a post can no longer receive upvotes.@whatamidoing has come up with a bit of remedy for that. He curates the #deadpost initiative. He has just posted this week's round and you can enter here. If you happen to also be rather poetry inclined, here is your chance to revive an old poem of yours and have some fresh eyes take a peek.

The rules.

  • Upvote and re-esteem this post.
  • The post must be at least a week old.
  • Vote for 1-3 other entries in the comment section. Do NOT upvote the original post. That is a wasted vote. Upvote the comment here.
  • I will choose from among the poets/poems that received the most votes and best quality comments and gave the best comments and did their diligent best to upvote 1-3 other entries.
  • Depending on the size of the payout, I try to reward as many people as possible.
  • Poems only, all forms of poetry welcomed.
  • Don't vote for yourself

Last week the post made 0.349 SBD. Steem is down and so this a lot less than usual. We had five participants who followed all the rules and were wonderfully supportive to everyone and so I rounded up to 0.35 and split evenly among you guys. Everyone in this list shall/has received 0.05 SBD. Check your wallets.

@zeleiracordero
@momzillanc
@mineopoly
@marlyncabrera
@satorid

Hopefully steem comes up and next week the payout is a little more substantial. But hey, I used to write poetry for free ... lol:):):)

An Update ...

We have had two donations of SBD for this week's payout. Please take a moment to thank the following steemians for their contribution.

@tribeglobal-love .... 3.639 SBD
@rensoul17 ... 0.129 SBD

In addition to the SBD that the post makes, the prize payout will include another 3.768 SBD.

Good luck everyone and happy reading:)

Hi all! I'm back :) here is my submission, with a painting I did, thanks again for this great little group <3

Entire Cities, Like Children:
https://steemit.com/poetry/@kilbride/entire-cities-like-children

Love the artwork and the poetically insightful words

Necessary movers of our weight.
Sleepwalk through the mess.
Entire cities, like children,
Acting out for attention.

"Entire Cities, Like Children" It is excellent existentialist poem that talks about how humanity advances asleep through life, how it lives surrounded by seduction and enraptured like little children, without a true vision and a consonance with the times that are lived. I really enjoyed reading, congratulations for such good writing, @kilbride.

Nestled calm, comfortable, contented
So well aspected,
With just enough tension
To coax
growth
And perhaps evade that pleasant acceptance.
So known for wearing
Even the most brilliant, beautiful people
Into feeble
Apparitions.
Have you begun to wear so young?

Delightful piece of writing, kilbride:)

Terrific imagery in your very existential poem. I also like the way you’ve rendered your painting with its own existential quality.

Hello everyone! Once again, here, taking advantage of this extraordinary opportunity offered by @prydefoltz to relive dead poems. I thank @tribeglobal-love and @rensoul17 for the support to our society, hoping that this impulse will help us to grow and multiply the number of participants. Today I bring you one that I did in honor of my father, hoping that you like it.

https://steemit.com/poetry/@zeleiracordero/eternal-guest-original-poem-100-days-poetry-challenge-day-7

Beloved father of one hundred battles,
you went silent sitting on sighs,
leaving a wake that marks the way,
of stars route and lights flares

Always a beautiful and powerful poetic share, Marlyn:)

Another amazing poem full of poignancy and illuminating imagery. These words, are especially moving:

My Father, center of my heart,
You planted very deep within me, love,
You did not deliver me from all my fears,
You gave me the courage to face them myself.
You did not turn off my inner flame,
You blew and blew so she's alive.
You did not take away from me the pain of losing yourself
You gave me the courage to win.
You did not imprison my being in your death,
You opened the cage to see me fly

Tenderness. Beautiful words to describe a strong and inspiring father-daughter relationship beyond the physical world, @zeleiracordero. The Spanish version is quite musical; loved it.

Thanks, again, Pryde, for hosting this wonderful initiative. My submission this week is “You Named Me Friend” https://steemit.com/poetry/@momzillanc/you-named-me-friend

My shredded soul was sliding away
You led me to spiritual wholeness
You lifted me up, and forward to dignity
From worthlessness I was made to believe
You truly cared and named me friend.

A beautiful piece of faith and devotion:)

Thank you.

Hermoso poema convertido en homenaje. Hay quienes dicen que los amigos son la familia que uno escoge. En tu caso, esto parece ser verdad. Rescato como líneas que me impresionaron, las siguientes:

You showed me I could stand alone
Unveiled the depths of my own strength
To face the world, and stand proud

Refreshing poetry, @momzillanc. I congratulate your creative art.

I ran your comment through my translator; this was the result:

Beautiful poem turned into a tribute. There are those who say that friends are the family that one chooses. In your case, this seems to be true. I rescue as lines that impressed me, the following:

Thank you very much. That is precisely what the poem is about… the person who made me her friend and became the sister of my heart, and what that has meant to me.

Sorry. @momzillanc I get excited with your poems and, despite translating the comment, I do not notice that I am taking the Spanish version to the answer. Thanks for taking the translation work, I'll be more careful next time.

No problem. It’s not an onerous task. As long as it’s not too long or filled with colloquialisms, my online translator does a decent job.

My shredded soul was sliding away
You led me to spiritual wholeness

I am also so thankful for loved ones who bring me back when I start to dematerialize <3 It sounds like you were in a very lost space, and I'm happy that you found your anchor and love again :)

Thank you. I was in a very dark and miserable place when the person the poem speaks of came into my life. She became the sister of my heart and helped me find myself in the person whom my husband came to love.

Hey, Pryde I sent 0.129 sbd for this weeks community initiative of dead poems.

Thank you, Rensoul. Your donation to the initiative is wonderful. I will make note of the amount and edit the post letting people know:) Again, thank you so much:)

TribeGlobal-Love Proudly supports the dead poems society. We have sent you. 3.639 SBD to support the participant entries for this week. We hope to get back and read them.

Thank you very much for the donation. That was unexpected and very kind. I will make note of the amount and edit the original post:) We truly appreciate your generosity:)

Ok for this week's dead poem I got Hung over, Beaten by life

"Hung, beaten by life." It speaks of the abandonment suffered by the elderly at the end of their days. In this particular case, it refers to the old man who continues to wander the streets waiting for death, alone and abandoned. Suspended in an undeserved time and space because surely, when he was young, he struggled with everything to survive, but old age diminishes, ends with force and leaves only that taste of bitterness, of moral blows and surrender.
As always, I am an admirer of his poetry that depicts humanity carelessly neglected, as a way of calling attention to things that we could improve.

One feels much for this old man:)

How many people pass a man like the one in your poem, but do not SEE him? A powerful and empathetic write.

Good luck as always for your contest. Keep it up!

Thank you, Anggre:)

This is a good initiative to revive older posts. I think that although you cannot upvote the actual post, we can make new comments and they can make some rewards. Don't quote me on that but I have earned SP from comments on older posts.

Yes ... I think that is true about comments ... but the rewards go to the commenter and not the blogger:)

I'm not 100% sure but I think I have received rewards from people commenting after the 7 days. Let's test it out?

If they comment and you like it, you will only make money from the comment if your vote is large enough to earn a curation from it. So I think your vote would have to be 0.06 cents to get paid, but they will get paid from your vote if its over 0.03 cents or if you use @dustsweeper to round you up.

Hi, people ☻ Hi, @prydefoltz; thanks for the invite (and my share ☺) Am I still on time to enter, or should I wait till next round?

Thank you, Marlyn. Please join in ... there is still time:)

Thank you, @prydefoltz

Here's my entry of this week:

"Left"

The buoyant foamy filigrees of the reaper’s dress
fly in the breeze over the memorial seas,
as she glides in her compassionate shy lightness
and gently speaks to our ear and caresses our cheeks

Superb and thoughtful penning:)

A poignant write
