I would probably keep you company... in the corner, if possible on the floor... :0)
It really depends, actually. When I'm sure about what is 'expected' from me, i.e. among my close friends in a situation I'm familiar with, I don't really mind getting into attention that much. But from the moment there's one factor that's out of my comfort zone, I prefer a corner and the floor. I'd prefer being invisible, if that would be possible.
I hate getting into unfamiliar situations, and I have a tendency to become very shy. It does happen that people mistake my shyness for arrogance...
It's the main reason you won't come across me on an event like Steemfest. Oh... the thought alone makes me want to run and hide somewhere, lol
... under the table? I remember when I was a kid that our parents would let us play under the table when we had family dinners with other family friends. Somehow, that sort of feeling has stayed with me... and if it wasn't too weird for an adult to do that then I would... but somehow, it seems okay for kids to do it... less so for a grown adult.
... I also get your feeling about mistaking shyness for arrogance... I think my wife gets mistaken for being unfriendly... me too sometimes!
Under the table sounds pretty good, actually. Even better than the corner.
I think it's not fair that you can't do that no more once you're an adult. Maybe I'll give it a try some time...
