I absolutely hate ads too, I block them mercilessly with adblock plus
And If someplace wants to block my access until I turn off the adblock, I just go somewhere else.
But I don't see any good reason why posts can't pay out forever, here on steemit. Comments can payout forever, as far as I know
I see no reasons why that would be bad, and many reasons why it would be good
Comments also pay out for a week after they are posted I believe, although I'm not sure if comments on dead posts will payout or not.
I think it's a complicated issue, the fact that there are soooooo many posts and so many ways to rig the system with bots, I think it's better that there is a limit. Otherwise people could lend their sp to new sock puppet accounts and continuously upvote all their old content.
I think there should be an app tied to steemit that works more like patreon and is funded with steem and tied to the steemit community. It should have a more organized layout for reading through older posts and Be about posting less but higher quality material in order to gain monthly supporters. So effectively people would be offering a weekly allowance of steem in support of a user rather than his/her individual posts. I should make a post about this.
I think this is a great idea.
I have been thinking of transferring my efforts to Patreon or one of its competitors anyway, as I need a different system, than what we have here.
I need the platforms that I use to be tools to help me advance my career, rather than the platforms seeing me as a tool to advance the platform.
I feel that is the case here on steemit.
People are trying to become good at steemit, and losing themselves along the way.
Or maybe I am a sourpuss.
Maybe it's to stop people making a billion accounts to upvote their main account? If there are no other technical difficulties surrounding that I'm inclined to agree with you.
