Sonia was about to graduate from secondary school. All that was on her mind was to get admitted to the university. She wanted to study law. But her mother had other plans. When she told her mother that she wanted to buy JAMB form, her mother told her she has to learn a trade first before furthering her education. She was aghast! How would she hold up her head before her peers? But her mother’s mind was made up so she went to learn how to organize social events.
Two years later she gained admission into the university. Her peers who were already ahead of her soon finished a couple of years later. They began uploading their NYSC pix on Facebook to her envy. When they finished serving, they found it difficult to get a job and they were not humble enough to learn any trade. She too finished and went to serve but she found out that the training she got while learning her trade has stood her in good stead and she could find it easy to make a living. She began to see the wisdom in her mother’s words that a stitch in time saves nine.
