RE: Whats Your Favorite Book Comment Challenge

in #contest7 years ago

This is a super hard question. Often, my favorite book is the book I'm currently reading, although I suppose there are a couple books I come back to frequently. So I have 3 books to share:

Persuasion by Jane Austen, Guerrillas of Desire: Notes on Everyday Resistance and Organizing to Make a Revolution Possible by Kevin Van Meter, and Sojourning for Freedom: Black Women, American Communism, and the Making of Black Left Feminism by Erik McDuffie.

Guerrillas of Desire is about the history of collective worker movements outside the formal organizing structure of the union or anything like that.

Sojourning for Freedom is about the involvement of Black women feminists in the Communist Party of the United States in the first half of the 20th century. I'll be studying with the author when I start my grad program in the fall. (History PhD program for the win! I also love history, in case you couldn't tell, lol. Washington's Secret Six is on my TBR list.)
