As today really kicks off the Christmas craziness for our family with 5 straight days of Xmas celebrations at 5 different houses with lots of driving around. So tis the season for giving and I figured it's the perfect time to give a present to 10 lucky people. Each person I select will get 2 shares in the Minnow Builder Program.
The Contest
Just leave a comment with the best present your spouse, partner, or whatever has ever bought you you have ever gotten and what you would like to get for Xmas this year.
(edited above after posting as it wasn't my thought to limit it to actual current partners, but could be seen that way. Was more thinking along the lines of hey I still haven't bought my Wife anything, maybe people will share what they really liked and something will spark an idea for me...lol)
All qualified entries will be assigned a number on a spreadsheet and then I'll use google number generator to pick the winners...assuming there are more then 10 entries.
The Present (aka the Prize)
The Minnow Builder program is something that I started with the help of @andrewharland and @pifc. This program is designed to allow people to get a lifetime upvote based on their percentage of ownership in the program while at the same time helping plankton become minnows. Half of the voting pool goes to manually selected plankton to provide them with a daily upvote at no cost. The goal is to help speed up their growth which helps keep them interested in this platform and to help grow a real middle class on steemit.
10 people will get 2 shares in @minnowbuilder2.
These shares are owned, meaning as @minnowbuilder2 grows so does the value of your shares and the size of your upvote (in terms of vests...can't control steem prices). @minnowbuilder2 account has been up and running since 09/24/18 and the share value has increased from 1.0 steem per share to 1.128 steem per share. That is just under 3 months and the account has grown 12.8% meaning vote values have grown that much. This has proven to be a very successful program in terms of value being returned to the shareholders and the Minnow Builder Program has already had multiple Plankton turn into Minnows with our support.
I think my best Christmas present was a Nintendo 64 it became a big part of my childhood, many funny times with my friends and family came out of that machine. If Santa could leave me some Steem Power vouchers this year I would be seriously very happy hehe.
Great childhood memories playing games with friends too...and I'll take some of those vouchers too!!!
The best gift I got for the Holidays (I'm not Christian) was on New Years Day 3 years ago, I got released from 6 months in a step down facility after rehabbing from a respiratory failure into a new apartment, after having to live out of hotels before I went into the Hospital.
It's been a slow recovery with some set backs, but I have made progress and the last few months , have been tough.
I just wish as a gift to have my body finish quickly with the last bit of healing. Which will get me freedom to go around without portable oxygen.... It's close and going to happan....
Fingers crossed so I can then start doing some sports and other more aerobic activities again!
No Prayers needed here...
Just like to hear others stories of overcoming problems...
It inspires me!
I truly believe that what doesn't kills us makes stronger, even when there is a lot of pain.
Health is something most of us get to take for granted, but the second you don't have it you realize how important it is.
I'm not a religious person in the least, but the spirit of xmas and giving without expectation of anything in return I get behind. The full on religious or commercialized BS that happens...no so much. The "gift exchanges" with a dollar tag where everyone gives their list of items they want suck and I refuse to take part. Nor do I go to church with the family, but rather stay home and cook the meal. But picking out something special for people you care about is a great reason to act Christian for a few days...lol.
Wish you the best of luck with your recovery in 2019. May it be the year you ditch your oxygen tank and get back to being more active!
Very wise words @thedarkhorse
Most people seem to "wake up" to late to realize how health is one, and it's easy to lose it and so hard to get back.
Hope you will have a great Xmas buddy
Piotr
We are just done with our 3rd day of xmas with our families. 2 more to go, which will make 5 straight days. After that we have a couple friend christmas parties after xmas. This is a crazy busy couple weeks for us, but totally worth it.
Buddy I wanted to tell you, that if you would ever need my help with promoting some of your post and bringing valuable traffic then please let me know.
I really like how you act here on Steemit and I would love to show my support.
Cheers
Piotr
It may sounds cheesy, probably because it is, but the best present I ever got was the love of my girlffiend.
All I want for Christmas this year is that she keeps on loving me, even though I'm not easy to live with. And I would be very grateful if I could finally get rid of the pain that's limiting me big time in living my life...

hi @simplymike
So ... when is your wedding? :)
I really hope your wishes will come true. Spending this special time with someone close to your heart is what matters the most.
ps. what pain do you mean?
Piotr
Actually we had our wedding in August 2017, but we both agree that 'wife' sounds a little weird, so we keep daying 'girlfriend' lol
I've had two bulged disk surgeries this year - two within 4 months time, and my back is such a bad condition I will probably have to learn to live with pain...

Cheesy...maybe, but that is ok. Been with my Wife for 23 years and still feel the same way. Wish you the best with the pain, know how much that can limit you.
Thanks, @,thedarkhorse

Not cheesy at all :) So so sweet!

My best gift was my first laptop.
It's pretty much the only gift I ever got from my dad who wasn't a big fan of technology. That made me feel really supported and kickstarted my IT/writing career.
My best gift was a trip to Florida to see my family when I was in California. I could not have gone if I had to pay myself.
This year I would like someone to tell me they are losing weight because of my work with coaching, blogging, or books.
I do not need or want any "stuff" of any kind. It's always the experience that counts for me.
Have fun and safe travels :)
So agree...keep the stuff, lets create shared memories.
The best present I ever had was on the Christmas of my 13th year on this earth. A Super 8 film camera. I am not sure why my father had bought that for me because I don't remember having ever talked about or shown any interest in film making. However, I was thrilled and went on to film many many hours of family life and days in the summer school vacation with friends. Now that I am older the value of these films are now a priceless archive for the whole family. We all know none of us live forever and thus after we have gone any items left behind, such as photographs, become treasured gifts that solidify our memories.
With regards to Christmas this year, well I am long past wanting material things so my wish would be for al my friends and family to have a peaceful Christmas- In fact this Christmas tat is exactly what I want and hopefully will have. For my wife and I, for many years Christmas has been about traveling in order to spend time with each of our children. They are all spread out over Europe so it is rather tiring. I am not a great traveler and find it rather stressful and if it were not for the fact that I was visiting family I just wouldn't do it. This year however, all the children are going on vacation to Spain or somewhere like that so that means no travelling this year. I will miss seeing the children ha ha I call them children but of course they are in their 30s and 40s - I will miss them but I mist say it will be nice to have a quiet Christmas for a change with just my wife and I alone watching romantic comedy films on TV.
That is so cool that he got you that and you were able to create those videos to look back on. These days kids will never understand what it means to not have a digital log of their past.
Hope you have the perfect xmas with your Wife.
Merry Christmas my freind, Merry Christmas
Merry xmas!
We bought each other flashy new cameras last year!
This year I wish for good health, not just for us, but
for everyone! 💕
Cameras are a great gift allowing you to capture all the memories you make. Wife has been eyeing the new Samsung phone because of it's camera...just can't swing that price tag right now. She could care less about anything except the camera which includes slow motion recording. Our youngest is into parkour and always jumping around or climbing something so it would be really cool for that.
Hmm, that's a Loaded Comment especially for single parents. Season's Greetings to you.
Edited the post, does that read better?
As a Home care nurse I had a delightful client to provide nursing services for. He had complex level of care requirements that were quite challenging for single caregiver. After working with him for some years he had inheirited a considerable cash estate. He always wanted to go on a 14 day cruise and then one Christmas he treated me and my kids because he admitted that he was very happy with the quality of care and being his company for those years I was with him. It was like a wonderful working vacation, a great view, my kids had a blast, lots of perks, met the Captain, a cool tour, no groceries to shop for, no cooking or dishes to do, I didn't have to make the bed, we saw the sights, I gained a little weight and I can't think of anything better just for doing a good job. Doing a bit of Google sleuthing I've estimated that he had spent over $8000 CAD for me and my kids.
That's really generous of you!
I think the nicest present I got was a really expensive overcoat from my wife (then-girlfriend). I had been looking at it at the store, and she went back and bought it for me. I had been needing one, but I was thrilled to get such a nice one.
I'm hoping that I get a little silver in my stocking this year. :)
Always fun when you are looking at something, but not willing to actually buy it for yourself and then someone else gets it for you.
Silver is always nice to get, I'd take that too!
I am not celebrating christmas @thedarkhorse, but my best gift from @dipoabasch was "breakfast in bed" on my birthday last june and he keeps doing that for some more times 😊 and other best gifts are letting me playing the steemmonsters anytime I want and brought home a cat which now become a best friend of my FIL (He never likes any cats before)
Lemon
Merry Christmas!
Oh you and that game...lol. Breakfast in bed isn't something my Wife likes...she has a thing about food in the bedroom. But I wake up before her all the time and cook breakfast.
Well.. hubby took the breakfast to the bedroom and then when I wake up, I'll take the breakfast out and eat it at the shop😂 I just love his heart shape for bread, egg's scrumble, banana and even the chicken porridge 😂😂😂 he wakes up earlier than me
Goodmorning the best gift fo me and My family was in 2009 finding out were were having CJ, he is a precious gift to the world, with alot of love to give. This year a great present would be that on the 24th the results for @wolfhart Will be that the cancer is gone, and that only 1 chemo is needed to end the journey, Thanks My friend for inviting me to name My gifts, I wish you prosperity and love and hope we talk, write and laugh alot next year , Thanks for Being a driving force an paying it FOREWARD big time, glad i know you! My best Christmas gift:
It happened in December 2013, when I traveled with my family, to the Island of Aruba.
We greatly enjoy receiving the year in a different country, a trip that is planned for a whole year.
On that date, in Venezuela, you could still get foreign currency and plan trips. Today we are imprisoned in our country. Since 2014, we have been in a permanent debacle and the situation has been very difficult.
I thank God for giving me the opportunity to give my children with their father on the family trip at that time.
I want Venezuela to be restored economically and socially, and we can once again enjoy all the wonderful things that we have worked on to improve every day.
Merry Christmas for everyone and especially for you @thedarkhorse, a hug!
Really hope that your government gets their head out of their ass and starts caring about the people. Your people deserve so much better.
My favorite present was from Brian, on our first Christmas together, where he actually bought me all kinds of clothes and little things that he knew I would love. Doesn't sound like a big deal I'm sure, until I tell you this: my ex never bought me Christmas presents; I actually bought all my own and wrapped them for under the tree so the kids could see that mom got presents too. Then he would laughingly say on Christmas morning, so, what did I get you this year?, like it was funny. Pretty bad right?
So I guess Brian's present to me has always been thoughtfulness :)
