RE: CONTEST - What'd you think about Facebook recent scandal? 5 SBD prize

R.I.P. Facebook

Facebook seems to be on the verge of implosion. Even in the past several months, there have been numerous issues regarding Facebook.

Zuckerberg announced that advertising for cryptocurrencies was strictly forbidden. This felt like a "baby with the bathwater" situation where he has tarred all cryptos with the same brush. It is hardly worth speculating how long it will be before steemit posts are no longer allowed on Facebook. What is Zuckerberg afraid of?

He also announced improved measures against spam on Facebook. This seems to have ushered in a period in which ordinary comments on friends' posts are erroneously declared to be "spam" by Facebook's over-zealous spambots.

This latest scandal is just the latest development - and the one which has my own mother pulling things down off of Facebook as quickly as possible - in preparation for the day when Facebook dies. She was asking me who is the replacement?

I genuinely don't know.
In my own research, I have discovered that the teenagers and young adults (the original target audience) are no longer signing up for Facebook, preferring Instagram and SnapChat instead.

As great as Steemit is, it isn't really a replacement for Facebook. Steemit has a different niche, different purpose, different role.

What can Facebook do?
To be honest, I really don't know. Maybe redevelop the whole thing and launch a Facebook 2.0 with an easy migration. But I really do think that Facebook's days are severely numbered now.

Who is going to rise to replace Facebook? Only time will tell, but I think the death knell has already played the dirge for what was the "place to be" - Facebook.
