Hey people of steem,
How are you days going?
This contest will be for two hours and the best answer will get an upvote (with some runner-ups). Please spread the word, well if you see this in the first hour :p
Today's question:
What is the geekiest thing you spent money on? It can be anything from a collectors' edition of a game, to a figurine that costs more than you want to admit to something more extravagant. I am sure we all have our purchases, the ones we hide when company comes over :p.
Go geeks
English longbow at a renaissance festival.
You got the win because not only is it a bow but its for a renaissance festival. And I'm a little jealous :p.
Ha! Thank you @whatageek I shot it everyday for six months before I cracked it. Worth it!
Sick!
I was never really a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh, but long ago I stumbled across this cool Yu-Gi-Oh golden (NOT real gold ;)) millennium puzzle necklace in shape of the Eyptian pyramid with the eye of Horus on it.
It cost "only" about 10$, which I bought from my pocket money, but I tell you, I kept it like a treasure and wore it everyday. I cajoled myself into thinking that this is a magical artifact, so mesmerized was I by the colour, shape and energy of it. What also was a trend at that time was collecting Pokemon stickers( I was addicted!!), so whenever we had some sticker competition going on, they didn't want to have my sticker as my stake but my Yu-Gi-Oh necklace!! They were looking at it like a greedy pack of wolfs! Yet fate was in my favour, for I put it at stake once but didn't lose.
Do I still have it?
No, about one year later it fell through a sewer grate because stranger on the street overlooked me and bumped into me, hence inexplicably loosening the necklace from my collum right into the sewer grate...don't even ask for my consequent state of mind...😏
Runner up upvote for a tale of growing up geeky :p
I bought a suction pad that was supposed to slim the hips. Ha ha. It is stuffed in the back of the wardrobe. Hips still need to be slimmed down
lol how would that even work :p
Heat up and stick on. Trust me, no amount of heating and pushing down did the trick. Even gave myself a blister . LOL.
lol.. tough to beat that.
Runner up upvote :)
Thank you
I was the proud owner of a Star Trek uniform including Vulcan ears in the sense of Spock ears and wore both with pride last Halloween. Unfortunately, I lost one of the ears that night. They don't go well with being drunk.
lol at least you had fun. Maybe if you win you can buy one ear :p.
That's exactly why I'm here :-)
Runner up upvote :)
Wohooo the podium! Thanks a lot!!
lol your responses make me laugh
A bought a Harry Potter ripoff stick.
When i was younger i used to play everyday Silkroad Online and one day they publish a new armor but in order to obtain it you needed to pay REAL money, so i asked my dad some money and i ended up spending 80$ in the game... and guess what, i dont even play Silkroad anymore hahaha

lol awesome. I always liked those game books.
The geekiest thing ,i have done is had made a bid of 3000 bucks on cricket match as in our country we are so much with cricket and i really lost them...but who cares it is all about inner warmth ,that night i really had 4 shots..
my geekiest thing was convincing my parents for buying a desktop, it took me years to convince them, and lastly i left my food and starved for days just to make a pressure on them and force them to buy one as i was really in need of it coz i had not played any pc games till then, i was eager to know how does it feel to play and get involved in such activities, i even destroyed some of my personal stuffs to get my frustration out, at last they got convinced by me and brought me a desktop back in 2009
I remember saving for like a year when I was like 13 or so, to get this bad boy. Took lots of sweat, tears and letting some sweet pleasures go.... But I finally got it. Was at my parents a few weeks back, and I saw it... Gave me memories and a good laugh. Mortal Kombat was a big deal in those days. I présent to you, SEGA mega drive 2.... It lives on! Hahaha
Oh really i have the same nintendo player ....oh man....awesome.....
I used to play duck hund with this....lol...i was with milk teeth...
Hahaha. Awesome. Glad to know :D

That's dedication, I hope it was not the newer one, that game was really bad.

Sweet, I need to get those myself. I also want a Saturn.
Yeah the Saturn is about the only pre ps2 system i don't own. I managed to get a Sega cd though :) hope you're doing well @whatageek!
Sweet I had a Sega CD, you got games that were really different.
You as well. Everything good? I'm just working on steem mostly, I want to put enough steem away so I can sell a chunk and still have SP. Then probably switch to running mostly contests.
Doing great still here. If you'd ever like to chat we'd be happy to have you on the radio show sometime for a casual interview!
Maybe in the future, I'm liking my stealth mode here on steemit :p
The geekiest I think have bought would be ps3 fifa 17 cd.
I bought it when it launched in India but I could only play for 2 weeks coz my ps3 stopped working after that :/
My nerdiest thing hmm, arguably the Arrozi gaming desk that is 100% mouse pad which makes it 100% nerd.
This is my pride and joy.
Nice I really want a nice PC.
A german book for Human Anatomy of author Gottfried bammes, and I dont know german lol, I just like the anatomy drawings in that book.
It is a pretty heavy (and expensive) book (around 4 KG) I wish I can get an English version :D
lol the fact you don't know German makes it extra awesome.
My MacBook Air for coding and other things...
As it was out of my budget but bought it coz love MacBooks....
nice, did you learn a lot?
Yes, I learned better...
I bought a laptop cover just to look at my system ever when it's dead.
You see I’m gonna be honest with you . The geekiest thing I ever bought and I still buy everyday is my green. I’m 420 friendly. It’s outrageously expensive but I just have to buy and complain, buy and complain and so the cycle goes on everyday.
I am always looking to use less consumables and when I saw this on Kinja Deals I was like woohoo! I am going to install a DIY Bidet...I must say I look forward to going to the bathroom more than ever. I have also been told I talk about it way too much....case in point!
Hot Dog? Not Hot Dog!
Thank you for this great contest.
I work in a car repair shop. I have a monthly salary of about $ 100. I usually spend time playing online games. but for now. I can not spend money on things like that. because now I have to pay my sister school tuition
I once raised money to buy spider-man costumes. Spiderman's first movie really made me want to have a net. even I had time to pray when it was hahaha. but that's just fiction. I was disappointed, and I took it out by purchasing a PS2, and playing a spider man game. at least, I can control his avatar.
the geekiest thing i spent money on was subscribing for a premium membership on a porn website for a whole year!
i want to buy steem power, because i really love writing job in steemit. if I have a lot of steam power, then I make contest writing every day in my steemit account.
