Today I'm going to show you how to make a quick lunch or dinner. It's not rocket science, you don't need masters degree in cooking to make this and you only need a few ingredients.
It's not the healthiest dish if you're on a diet as it's rich in calories, however, if you need something quickly and filling, this can be an option. Also, you can just eat less if you are watching your calorie intake.
Ingredients:
sausage,
onion,
oil,
dried spices,
red paprika powder,
grated cheese.
Unfortunately this time I forgot to take photos of the ingredients as I was in a hurry, so we're going to jump right into the method.
Method
Heat the oil in a pen, add the finely chopped onion. You have two choices here. One is to sauté the onion and add the sliced sausage after, the other option is to add the sliced sausage and sauté together. I opted for the second one as sauté them together gives a nice flavor.
When the onion was already soft, I added my usual mix that contains dried herbs and salt. This is when i have to warn you to adjust the amount of salt if you're using such a mix. I added no salt at this point, only this mix.
After the sauté is done, I added the red paprika powder. Again, as I said in my previous recipe posts, make sure you buy real paprika powder, not some brick powder, that looks like paprika. If you can't get any, you can use fresh red bell pepper, diced. Sauté the red bell pepper as well as it contains a lot of water.
Next I added the pasta and mixed well, after which added water to cover.
Cooked for 7 - 8 minutes covered with a lid, but also stirred it a few times and checked if it has water. At some point I had to add more water as it wasn't enough. It is recommended to add water gradually if you want to avoid adding too much.
Serve while hot, sprinkled with grated cheese. I like it with pickles and as we have different varieties, made of home grown veggies, this time I picked a mix of cucumber, green tomato, onion and cabbage.
Growing your veggies has its advantages.
You can use any sausage you like, or salami. If you don't have any of these, you can use real meat, but be careful about the cooking time. Cook the meat first, the add the pasta.
Soooo, now comes the question, who wants some creamy rich pasta with cheese? 😏
