BEGINNER’S LESSON 2 – PANINI TOAST
Now that you’ve completed lesson one, we will move on to lesson two.
Toast!
I know what you are thinking “how is toast any different than the eggo waffle, they are the same”, WRONG!!!!!
Bread isn’t frozen and isn’t nearly as thick and dense as a waffle meaning there is a lot less room for error.
You will really begin to get a feel for your panini press with the bread and this is the biggest step in becoming a panini master.
DON’T ACT LIKE YOU’RE A PROFESSIONAL
Again, I want you to start with just one slice of bread.
Don’t get cute and throw two pieces of bread on because you think you have “experience” with the panini press.
Sure your eggo waffle went well, but bread is a different ball game.
If you aren’t paying attention you won’t have toast, you will have burnt bread and I don’t wish that on anyone.
LET’S BEGIN
So let’s begin, take the slice of bread and throw it on the press and fire it up.
Did you do it?
If you did you need to go back to lesson one because this was a test and you failed!!!!!
Don’t be a freaking noob!!!!!
You need to let your panini press heat up before using it!
Look at that, you thought you were moving up in the panini press world and you failed one of the most simple steps.
Becoming a panini press master isn’t as easy as you thought is it.
For the 2% that read the first part of that paragraph and realized that I didn’t tell you to heat up the press first congrats, let's move on.
BREAD IS DIFFERENT THAN A WAFFLE
The texture of the bread is a lot fluffier than the waffle so it will take you a few times to get that perfect piece of bread.
If you are using wonder bread, that means you are 10 years old and you are not old enough to be handling equipment such as the panini press because you are not responsible.
If you are using wonder bread and you are an adult, it means you have a mental problem and I highly suggest you seek professional help right away.
HOW TO SPICE UP YOUR PANINI BREAD
I would give the bread about 2-3 minutes and wait for it to turn a golden brown.
When it is done you can do such things like put butter on it.
I personally like cream cheese on my pressed toast because I like bagels and cream cheese.
After a thorough investigation my team and I determined that bagels are a lot like a thick piece of bread so it’s okay to put cream cheese on it.
If you live in San Francisco you are probably all fancy and what not, so you can add cream cheese and jelly.
That seems like something those smug people only in San Fran would do.
Enjoy!!!
