I was hanging out at my friend's house this weekend and he made these sandwiches that were absolutely amazing. He's made them a few times for us and I finally asked him for the recipe and attempted to recreate them for the first time.

What you need

  • Rye Bread
  • Thinly sliced Salami
  • Thinly sliced Ham
  • Thinly sliced Turkey
  • Thinly sliced Swiss Cheese
  • Mayonaise
  • Garlic Salt
  • Oregano

Instructions

Turn your oven on to Broil, if there is an option for Hi/Low use Hi.

Grab some tin foil to act as a tray, if you are doing more than 2-3 of them I would recommend a real tray.

Pepperidge Farm Rye works good but any quality Rye bread will work.

Layout how many slices of bread you plan on using evenly on your tin foil or tray.

IMG-1916.jpg

Cover each slice of rye with a single layer of salami.

IMG-1917.jpg

Then a single layer of swiss cheese.

IMG-1918.jpg

Cover each slice with a thin layer of mayo and a light covering of garlic salt and oregano. I tend to use a little extra oregano with everything I cook.

Add a layer of ham, turkey, and a final layer of swiss.

Another layer of mayo, garlic salt, and oregano. I believe I used a little too much mayo on these, so try to keep it fairly thin.

Place the slices in the oven, keeping an eye on it for a few minutes until the cheese is melted and slightly browned on the edges. When I asked how long to cook them for, I was told "until it smells good", but I ended up keeping an eye on it.

Once done, pull them out and let them cool a little, the cheese gets really hot.

They don't look like much, but they are delicious. The next time I make them, I will try to keep the mayo thinner and cook it a little less.

Looking at my friend's sandwiches, neither of ours look good at all, but they are amazing.

Those look amazing. I made them with canned tuna amd mayo instead of deli meat usually.

Yum, a little bit of chilli paste mixed with one of the mayo layers and even better!

I like my cheese melting into the bread. This looks like a burnt roof of mouth waiting to happen!
