It's an interesting article. However, a "wok," by definition, has a round base. A pan with a flat bottom and curved body is called a "saucier." Unfortunately, one usually has to go to restaurant supply stores to find true woks.
NOTE: one needs a special stove to cook with a round bottom wok. I use a rocket stove.
Many woks are made of carbon steel. However, there are also cast iron woks and traditional woks pounded out of a variety of metals. Some people like the cast iron. Mine is carbon steel.
