Hello,
I am writing my first articles for steemit and recognize the importance of pictures for making an article more visual and fun. Looking around the internet, I see that it is almost impossible to find good pictures that I am actually allowed to use. I have now written two photographers of pictures that I would like to use and am waiting for their answers.
What is your take on copyright and posting images on steemit?
Since this forum has monetary rewards for content, the author should be responsible for either producing the content or obtaining permission to use other people's content.
I have started using Pixabay and my own if I have any that suit.
If there are non I can use on Pixabay I will mash them using Gimp so I get one I can use.
Try to use your own photos. That will make your content more engaging and will take care of the copyright issue.
In case you can't use your photo, or it doesn't make sense, try to look for pictures with a Creative Commons license (for example, from Wikipedia), which are free to use as long as you credit the source.
Also, if you refer the readers to a news article from another online source, using a picture from the same article is usually considered "acceptable use" so it's okay too ( see my "One news item a day" posts ).
