What is jamming the global supply chain

in #corona3 years ago

I just heard a podcast that renewed for me some reasons for delays in shipments around the world. Here are some reasons I understand now.
So it all started from an event we all remember, the global corona crisis. To simplify the process I will take a sample product, a toaster that I want to buy. To get it (from China probably, of course) I need a ship. It turns out that during the Corona crisis ships that used to transport goods stopped transporting them :
1 - Because fewer people thought about buying a toaster during this world crisis
2 - Medical equipment was needed all over the world, (including poor countries) and not toasters, so the ships sailed there to transport medical equipment and had no goods to return back to China ... so they just stayed there. Wait for them to have goods to deliver.
3 - Recently, when the demand for products increased, so the price went up, it was worthwhile to return the ship empty from the ends of the earth. Everyone came out at once and it caused a traffic jam :-)
4 - In addition to ships, you need someone to prepare the toaster. Because during the Corona period workers went on unpaid vacation, They preferred to stay home even when the corona crisis was over and get money. This is also true of the truck driver who was supposed to deliver the toaster to me :-)
