German Minister of Health about Corona in Germany

in #corona5 years ago

In a government statement, Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn drew a predominantly positive conclusion on coping with the coronavirus crisis to date. The new virus is a major challenge for society, he emphasized in his speech in the Bundestag. "The consequences of fear can be far greater than those of the virus itself." So far, with a few exceptions, the population has been very prudent.

The minister praised the efforts of everyone involved in the fight against the virus, but acknowledged that there was of course still room for improvement. The tests sometimes took too long. It is important not to give the all-clear given the course so far. "One thing is certain: the peak of the spread has not yet been reached," said Spahn. "The corona epidemic in China has become a pandemic." And an epidemic had started in Germany.

The minister also emphasized that in case of doubt, the security of the population always comes first - even before economic interests. His goal is to empower the citizens: "Stay calm. Find out from reliable sources like infektionsschutz.de and punish those who try to spread fear and false reports with disregard!"
