Traces of Happy | Walk around the block

Adventures during lock-down exist of a walk around the block - getting out of the house, literally walk for 15 minutes or so, avoiding other people, looking suspiciously at the dog walker not minding there are other people on the path...

Yeah - welcome to 2020 where human interaction is changing by the day.

The other thing happening though is people smiling at each other. When we both make an effort to get out of each others way there's a "hello" and/or "thank you" involved.

Weird.

Lovely.

Normally in the big city people ignore each other as good as they can.

The neighbours have been cleaning up the hood. The municipality lended our block of houses some tools and some neighbours have been using them to pick up litter.

Why not? In times of lock-down there's a lot of joy in cleaning up, having a reason to go outside. Making oneself useful. Sharing the results on the Facebook page of those same neighbours and feel good because you made everyone happy.

Another lovely thing.

I noticed the kids suitcase first, filled with toys, but not worn-down toys, they looked good and were even explicitely shown to the passerby by having it open, a tiny toys expo of sorts.

I walked a bit further and noticed another colourful thing on the streets. This time a cardboard box filled with box. This time more explicit: it had a written note next to it saying that you could take what you want.

And so I was back home 15 minutes after I had left it. It still filled my phone with pictures and my heart with a few smiles. Traces of Happy during a short but worthwhile walk during lock-down.

Thank you! :D

What a cool thing. Cleaning the neighborhood. A terrific idea.

And children's toys? Can you imagine the impact of a new toy in the lock down? That's one of the all time greats I have ever heard. Everybody wins in that deal.

Thanks Soyrosa! You are not the only one to get smiles out of your walk today!

Yes - toys! It's amazing. I live in a fancy block in an otherwise poor neighbourhood, and I've heard from my participation in a certain social project that some kids living here only eat once a day :-( It's rough. I love how people are trying to brighten up people's days and I'm personally watching my neighbour to see if he still holds a jon in a few weeks because I know he might need some support if not.

Thanks for stopping by @bigtom13! Glad my walk brightened up another day <3

It is such a strange time at the moment, and stressful at times, but seeing random acts of kindness like the suitcase of toys gives one a nice warm feeling that good can come out of aloof this

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

Hey @tattoodjay! I was in doubt if this was an 'appropriate' #wednesdaywalk post - I always want to join but never do as I don't walk so much due to mobility issues. But I love the posts that come from the tag so when I realized I actually made a walk... ON WEDNESDAY... I was sort of excited :D

That for a sidenote! And yes, little acts of kindness go a LONG way in these times <3 Stay healthy!

Thanks for joining, for me when someone has mobility issues and is able to join it make some smile I have to admit

but I will let you know I am pretty easy going, the walk can be on any day of the week, and I take the term walk very loosely as well, I have had others join the walk also with mobility issues just taking shots out the window on in their back yard and that's fine with me as well , for me the most important part is to have fun :)

Hello, @soyrosa. How nice to be able to greet you again. There are definitely many people in the world with a big and kind heart. These details are what comfort the spirit in the midst of this pandemic. Take care, a hug.
