Heya steemians !

Today I will talk about how I've started my tabard for my next costume. First, let me show you a picture of what it should look like at the end...

Ref picture for the tabard
This piece is not that difficult to make but very long ! There's pleny of details to add, I have to be careful to the color order and I have to be careful when picking that or that color (especially about the anise and light green case, if you don't remember, click there !).

First, I know that I should sew all the details from top to the bottom. It means, I'll start with the green triangle on the top in the middle. Before addding anything to my tabard, I've taken a red thread, fold the tabard in two (left side on right side) and I've sew this red thread in order to place the center of my tabard because I need the patterns to be symetrical.

Then, once I've got my middle, I've drew the needeed shapes before cutting my pieces, thanks to those templates. I've cut everything (It took me 1 hour with some help !) and check that everything was correct, placing them where they should be after cutting them (just placing, not sewing).

Templates for every piece of the tabard. On every piece, I've write the width in cm (if needeed) and the colors that have to be cut in this width/shape

The pink band is here to replace the lighter green shade needeed, I've used an old fabric that was left in my workplace to be able to continue cutting the rest of the fabric. It will be replace later.

V band cut and placed on the tabard fold in two

When everything is cut, let's sew ! For the first parts, I had to be careful when sewing them because I attach this tabard with a rope at my waist so I've let a hole to be able to let the rope go through.

To explain a bit how I've proceed, let's talk about the first triangle. I've pinned it where it should be and use some pins to mark the sewing line of the hem (the limit to not go through or I wouldn't be able to pass my rope). I've used my button stitches and sew what I could sew. Then, I've let the rope enter in the hem hole and finishing sewing the triangle by hand (after pinning the rest of the triangle).

How I've fixed the triangle

And I've continue pinning, sewing, hand-sewing my things. For some of them I've used interfacing. Actually, I'm working on the emerald band with some triangles on it (on the middle, the band under Flowey's head).

Actual state of the tabard

Oh and I've no photos of it but I've already made my Flowey head. I just need to glue every part and paint the hole thing. Now that temperature are higher than in winter but not too high, I'll try to paint it for next month !

Here's the end of my last WIP. Then see you next month for the next WIP !

This looks very ornate!

Yes ! And this isn't the most complicated part of this costume ! :)
I hope you'll continue to follow my work on this costume :)

Hello @purplealyss and welcome to #NeedleWorkMonday! Every Monday needlers from around the world get together to share our creations, patterns, tips, shortcuts and to support one another through upvotes and helpful feedback. We want to inspire the Steemit blockchain with our needlework!

On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We encourage everyone to share the process of their work through pictures as you have done so above.

This is such elaborate work! I appreciate you showing the layouts and how you have pieced your project together. It’s a very interesting costume you are putting together. So do you perform in plays or is this something you do for leisure? I look forward to seeing more from you!

To learn more about the @needleworkmonday community guidelines and about what we do, please read over our FAQs.

Thank you ~

Hi ! Thanks, someone told me about this tag some months ago but I just restart posting on steemit.
Thank you ! That's a lot of work so it's good to see someone appreciate it ! I plan to take some photo with appropriate role-play and to go to a convention with a big group (at the end, we're going to be ~10 people with costumes from the same alternative universe).
I hope that someday someone who want to make this costume will found my WIP and that it will be helpful :)

Absolutely! You will definitely see that this community appreciates, respects and admires this type of hard artistic work ;)

Wow that sounds so interesting! The convention you’re describing kind of reminds me of Comic-Con! When you said alternative universe I thought of the latest Spider-Man movie! Looking forward to seeing pictures from that event! 😍

You never know who just might give this project a whirl. It’s very helpful when you share the steps especially with photos :)

So I'll continue to work hard to be able to write more quality article for my steemit blog :)

That's exactly like a comic con the only difference is that the convention I go to are about Japanese geek culture :) the biggest one in my country is Japan Expo at Paris (not exactly Paris but near to), those conventions are really cool if you have the opportunity one day to go to one, I definitely recommend you to accept !

I haven't seen the into the spiderverse film but everyone is telling me that this movie is really cool so can't tell if it's like this movie but to explain a bit the base universe is Undertale and artists, during the next year after the game release, create their own universe inspiring by Undertale. They keep the same characters but they're telling another story.
If don't know this game, check every route (Undertale has 3 different ending) because it's really a wonderful game and the community is very lovely !

Oh cool I thought it sounded similar!

Wow this sounds very interesting. Thank you so much for explaining in detail! I’ll have to check out Undertale!

You're welcome. I hope you'll like this amazing game like I do :)

This looks like a fun cosplay! Lots of details to pull together. I hope it is comfortable enough to wear all day at a convention. The headdress part looks like it will really stand out.

For the moment, without the headdress, it's one of my most confortable costume ! I've already wear the dress and the belt at a little convention for a test :)
