Hello everyone!! As some of you know,or may remember, I was an avid steemian blogger who made the transition to PEAKD. I haven't posted since December, 2020! On December 25,(yes, Christmas), my life forever changed. On a side note, I have consistently through the years had bad things happen to me on Christmas.
But,I digress. On Christmas day, 2020,I didn't have covid. Something else happened that was life threatening & kept me in the hospital until around Jan 1,2021. On 12/30/20,I had a serious surgery done. I was sick most of January having trouble voiding (both ways not to be TMI), was very weak, and more. Again, nothing I've mentioned so far is COVID related, just a little backstory.
In mid January 2021,I was nasally COVID tested for the 50th time (kidding, but it felt like it!) I was negative. It's also worth mentioning I was in the hospital for almost two weeks in January, again covid free.
Here's me being all cautious and masked up at my Stepmother's, taken late 2020.
In 2020,I went with clean, new masks everywhere I went. I also had this good one I bought on the internet.
Everytime I returned home from an errand I doused myself off with an 80% alcohol antiseptic spray. I also did that to any things purchased and brought into the home. I never slacked on wearing a mask, ever. My car was sanitized after every outing. I got covid tested a lot in 2020 because I was so paranoid about getting it; and I tested negative everytime.
Well, that changed! On Jan 27th,2021 after testing negative all throughout January, I tested positive for COVID 19 & now have what the doctors call "a disease caused by the novel COVID 19 virus." No clue what that means I was just told that's how they write it up on medical documents. So, whatever.
Leading up to the positive test, I was feeling sick, like a slight cold. I never got a fever or lost my taste or smell. I just had headaches, dizziness, nauseau,an earache, muscle aches & soreness. I had a bad feeling I was going to test positive. I remember stretching by reaching down to touch my toes and almost fell backwards, I was so dizzy. I am very flexible so this was highly unusual. Literally right after that, my doctor called and said I had tested positive. I was scared. He tried to calm me down and assure me I would be okay. I was prescribed TWO antibiotics for five days and zofran for nausea.
Right after I tested positive, my fiance did as well two days later. His symptoms were similar. We both also experienced markedly worse depression.
Once a person tests positive, you probably will for at least 6 months even if you're no longer symptomatic. Some individuals pass the initial symptomatic phase and continue to experience symptoms they didn't have prior to covid; this phenomena is known as long symptoms.
Both my fiance and I have them. He's never felt the same. I had heart palpitations and experienced a near syncopal episode where everything went black peripherally and I thought I was going to faint. I went to the hospital and learned the ejection fraction on my heart was 5% lower than it should be and it was probably from covid and it may or may not improve over time. As a runner and generally athletic person, I was so upset to learn this.
We both continue struggling months after our initial diagnosis with covid long symptoms. It's scary. To conclude, as always, I love hearing from you all. Tell me: have you or someone you know had covid & what was your/ their experience if so. Also, please drop me some comments or questions if you have any.
