You might be wondering about the story behind the name "Magic Mug". Well, once upon a time there was an ancient clan of magicians in modern-day Assam, India who lived in a small village called Mayong on the banks of the Brahmaputra river. In year 1337 Mohd Shah want to usurp Assam with the help of their 100,000 horsemen but the people of mayong village vanished all horseman soldiers from land by their black magic powers. In retaliation to his great-grandfather's death, his Shah Reza Malik II courted the greatest esoteric magicians from Rome to Mecca and sent them eastward on the Silk Road to destroy this village. In the year 1388, the mighty Persian army started the march towards India.
The Persian army was caught red-handed by the surprise attack of the Indian magician, Shah Hussain Beg, and they turned back in defeat. Magic Mug clan are also referred to as Al Khifa'a mayong or Hill dweller black magic by other people. The Mug clan also expert at ancient Pakistani martial arts known as Kard Khel more known as Kom in Middle East.
The Mug clan is the most powerful clan among toddy tappers in Assam. Their ancient black magic rituals involves animal sacrifice and drinking human blood.
Now, the Mug clan split in to two group, the "Khori" group and "Naga" group. In 1842, the British administrator of Assam, Sir William Reid came to Mayong to hold court with the local Mug king, Fateh Ali Mugger. William Reid saw the Mug rituals and also started looking like a potential threat. Hence in 1848 Sir William Reid built a military post in Mayong and waged a demonisation campaign against them.
In 1850 the British banned the Mug clan from practising their black magic and until a 99-year old Mug matriarch, Zakia Begum, broke that law in 1985. She was arrested but her strong black magics skills are not defeated easily and she got out in 1990 and became a folk-hero among toddy tappers today and her legendary name is "Makhhi Begum". In 1983, the Government of Assam introduced the "'Satra System"(an Assamese version of Panchayati Raj system) and appointed three Anandaries to take charge of Mayong under the objectives of raising the educational, social and economic standard of the Todikaris (traditional toddy tappers).The first Anandary Pallab Lochan Das got attention for the Bezoar stones and was widely patronized by the indigenous population for his philanthropic works. At present, the Civic Administration of Mayong comes under the authority of Superintendent of Police (West).
The last Mug King, Mirza Hasmat Ali died in 1900 at Chaparmukh under the Dibrugarh district. Mayong was the first place ceded to the British in 1826. In 1826 Mayong was made headquarters of the Dimapur district, covering 350 square miles, with a population of 80,000 plus 87 villages under its jurisdiction.
Ravi Rowling was born in Osmania Hospital, Telangana near M.R.nagar. Her maternal aunt sold her to a local childless couple. He is known to be the last living member of the Magic Mug clan (or is he?). A university educated Ravi lives in the old city area of Hyderabad with his adopted mother, a widow and her daughter.
On one glorious evening, on the eve of Ravi's 37th birthday, he had just stepped out for coffee at the Koti cinema park walkway when suddenly he was accosted by a mysterious character, who cornered and manhandled Ravi in a secluded spot and offered him a deal of a lifetime. There was great freedom and plenty for a person who can look into the distant past and into the future. Of course nothing comes without a cost.
Ravi accepted the offer but could not escape it. He has ever since been taken to the scene of the mystery, only to watch himself getting involved deeper and deeper into the mystery every single time he has been summoned by his enemies. In his journey, he has faced some unknown powers, his life has been endangered numerous times, yet he has not lost hope and continues to fight to save mankind and especially the city of Hyderabad.
